Rite i have decised to lower my back end myself. Whats the difference between the way the guide on here says to do and the splines way in turning them which the haynes manual talks about? What would you lot say about it?
Advice on lowering

#2both work.. doing it with measuring is far more accurate than turning the splines
-
#3lowering it the right way is to remove the torsion bars and then reinserting them with the rear arms raised to the desired level, this give a accurate way of lowering the vehicle and keeping it completely level. the wrong way it to do it the splines method which involves knocking the whole rear arm off and then turning it at jsut one end a few splines and then forcing the arm back on on the other end. its a cowboy way of doign the job and will not give an accurate level each side. also doign it that way also normally causes the bearings to fail not long after as it normally damages the seals

#4In the max power haynes manual, isn't that the correct way to do it? It says to take the torsion bars out, fit dummy shocks to the the right height and then turn the torsion bar one spline and reinsert it?
-
#5no, you need to measure the distance from arch to disc/drum, remove bars, then move arms up desired amount, reinsert bars.

#9Dont do it the splines method. When you come to do it give me a shout and ill give you a hand, its probably easier doing it the proper method aswel rather than taking off the whole rear arm off which is unnecessary.

#11So the max power guide is wrong? I thought it looked the same as the guide on badger motorsport? Sorry if I'm being thick!
-
#12yer the one on bager motorsport is the same as the max power guide one
-
#13badger is the corret way but doesnt tell you to do it by splines. never read the max power 1.
