Low comp pistons / 2 head gaskets

  1. #1
Well low comp pistons seem to be in the +500 range

where as a pair of head gaskets is cheap as chips

So why should i got for low comp over two head gaskets?
  2. #2
2 head gaskets would be more prone to failure i have been led to belive, or there is a higher risk, plus the pistons are forged usually so should help make the engine bullit proof

as above, one gasket can give problems never mind 2 gaskets, you would rather spend the money now and do it right..

    Just wat i needed...

You can actually buy thicker motorsport gaskets for the saxo and 106 that reduce compression. What are you actually trying to acheive? You turboing something???

standard pistons will still fail eventually due to the increased pressures/heat. Some have ran forever on two gaskets though

Ive got a turbo kit for the sax just need some pipes fabricating & a manifold.

Before it goes on i wanna get the engine nicely tuned.

Im not really in a rush to get it on, ive been in a slow 1.4 for the past 18months so i wanna adjust to something quicker before i slap on a turbo.

So im just sourcing parts etc, i dont even have a friggin saxo now... the other i had was pants so i got rid, thinking id get another within a few days!!!!

Nothing wrong with 2 head gaskets, mates engine ran like that, pushing 1bar, for about 2years. I took the engine off him after that and it still ran fine.
