Full VTS Conversion HELP!!

  1. #1
Hi Guys Just about to do a Vts conversion into my (furio 2002) im looking for a mk2 vts lump (so the Engine wont need re-wiring), ive done sum research into it and all seems quite easy plug and play aparently if i get all the components rite!

    Just a few questions :

1 - About the ecu and key - my friend works for cit and he doesn't know what to do about this fact and how to wire it into the old loom? any ideas? (I want to use the existing key to start the new engine)

2 - From what I have gathered the vts requires different fuel lines (a feed and a return) will this easily plumb into my existing fuel tank or will it need to be replaced?

3 - i curently have a streight through system on my furio will the exhuast diamiter be any different?

4 - Whats this about the cable aparently my existing one is too short which one should be replaced with a Vts cable?

also does anyone live near bristol/weston-super-mare that can help us (I will gladly pay someone to help)

Im going to update my progress and hopefully make a Step By Step Guide for others with pics and instructions!

Thanks Guys See Ya At FCS!!

    1) ideally you need the ignition barrel and transponder from the donor car and then it will start ok once in your car, other wise the ecu will lock itself. You could also just get the ecu unlocked/open coded (Blue Hawk Electronics, £95 delivered) and again it will start fine but you'll have no factory immobiliser (just buy new alarm anyway).

    2) Can get away with just blocking off the fuel return by putting a bolt in the return pipe at the engine then holding it in place with a jubilee clip. I'm not 100% sure but i think if you want to utilise a return then you'd need a vts fuel tank (like i say not totally sure on that, my vtr already had a return so it was easy)

    3) Yes the furio exhaust will fit

    4) www.eurocarparts.com universal throttle cable £10, needs cut to size but is easy enough (citroen dealers supply a universal one, pug 106 gti cable comes ready to fit but is about £30-odd iirc)

Feel free to pm me if you need any help, i've just done this conversion although i did mk2 16v into mk1 8v but he basics are the same.

Thanks Sean! Im sure I will have more questions along the way!!

Will the bolt in the retun pipe have any effects on performance??

Does anyone know who will help me fit and get this running im going to pay cash? ££££ Sean u up for it?

If you block the return pipe you'll use a little more petrol than if you had a return and it may run a little rough, to be honest it's not something i've ever done, i've heard some people have done it and been fine, others have done and tried to get it sorted asap. If it were me i'd find out where the return joins the tank and then just buy the pipe and run it alongside the main fuel pipe.
You'd have to pay me some amount of petrol to drive to Bristol to help you mate, i'm in sunny Scotland Just pm me if you have any more questions, the actual nuts and bolts are a piece of piss, just make sure you use the vts engine mount under the ecu and the vts top radiator hose (you can use the furio radiator fine, i know 2 people who have used it with no problems and i'm still using my vtr rad and the temps are fine

Marc and I blocked my fuel return off and it runs rough TBH. Idle is poor and it use alot of petrol.

my returns blocked of..... but is fine.... i think all vts idle strange from wot i hear... you need to sort your brakes out mate... i still have drums on back... but gti6 on front...... vts engine mounts are better than 1.4 ones.... you can use your existing fuel pump aswell for time bein... but ive been advised to change mine....
