debadging

    I have a saxo vts, i know i need to take it to a body shop to remove the rear badges but are the 16v ones just stuck on, i was thinking of doing them myself, i know the rear badges will need filling, And what kind of price am i looking at to debadge the tailgate then... 100 quid or something.

    16V badges are just stuck on. Soften the glue with a heat gun before trying to pull them off or you could damage the paintwork.

    I got charged £90 to debadge the rear of mine.

    as above or try some boiling hot water softens the glue aswell

    £100 is cheap to respray the whole tailgate!

    they dont always do the whole tailgate!

    they can merge the paint in on the area thats been sanded and filled

    Yeah they wont respray all the tailgate, £100 is about right to have the holes welded up.

    This comes up alot and I think alot of people would agree, There is no real guid price for certain body mods as alot has to do with where and who does the work.

    A bodyshop that doesnt want to do such a job will quote a high price where as a bodyshop who thinks they can do will quote a lower price but this doesnt mean you should go with the lowest price.

    I beleive its always important to go with the person who shows the most interest in the job before taking it on.

    Alot of places are weary of taking of mods that are not standard bodystuff especially when a younger owner/driver comes in as we oftern get tarneshed with the same brush.

    As long as your happy with the result and its to a high quality Id pay whatever it takes as cheap always looks cheap.

    Get at least 3-4 quotes and go with what you feel seem to be the most interested in giving you what you want regardless of price

    or.

    Buy a Pug 106 tailgate and some rear lights.
    Pugs badges dont have holes behind them

    Will cost the same but will give your car a different look.

    yeah im pretty sure it does.

    The tailgate on the pug and saxo are the same except around the rear lights so to get round that, just pop 106 rears on instead of the saxo ones.

    not only will it be an easier option but its easily a better look and will make ur saxo unique
    Plus you wont have the worry of dodgey debadged welds.

    Will probably need to get the boot re-sprayed if you cant find a 106 match

    its not that simple to just change boots

    you also need the rear slam panel i think, and maybe more, not 100%

    would be cheaper to get debadged

    buy a 106 boot - then get it sprayed your colour, buy 106 lights and 106 slam panel

    or

    pay 100-150 to get it debadged

    you decide which ones better and cheaper

    Ive seen it done on a carworx saxo and it look fantastic, not sure how much work and but I think its less than you might think. As long as you got the lights as well it could be done.

    Try contacting Carworx themselves and see what they say
