wil it last ??

im havin newman cams (same as 708's) and miltek manifold fitted next week. with remap.. so with other mods im hoping for about 155bhp

other mods are exhaust, ported throttle body. induction kit..

im only on a standard clutch.... its only done about 1000miles.. will it hold up with extra bhp.. or do you think it will start to fail soon.

will be fine mate, not enough power to warrent upgrade
  3. #3
just checking... ive been told that standard cluches are a little poo... and not a saxo strong point..
  4. #4
    there fine
  5. #5
good stuff... fookin skint now....couldnt really afford a clutch..

also is the power that cams give later on in the range... ive been told i will really feel it..and its a big difference, especially fitting it with manifold at same time.

youll notice the difference all accross the rev range as your fitting manny at same time. manny lower down then al the way up to 7800. you will also feel your cams come on tap. going from what mods you have to what your having done there will be a big difference

get the results up mate after the remap, im getting the same cams next week so itl be interesting to see

    As Bullit has said...

Where are you getting the work done? Is Wayne / Chipwizards doing the re-map? Are Newmans cams the same as 708's??? Lot's of questions! Hahah.

I've had all this done, so any questions, fire away mate. You'll find that you have less power down the bottom. If you want quick starts in 1st, you'll have to drop the clutch slowly while you've got some good revs, other wise you can get really caught out, I still do all the time if I'm day dreaming... You'll notice that the power carries on a bit further in the rev range too, but don't get carried away, there's not need to bounce it off the limiter in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and if you're lucky, 5th, LOL. I won't do that again!

pug1off is doin it. im gona get all exhaust heat rapped aswell. think its a fair expectation of 155bhp.

Hehe, don't get too carried away with the peak BHP figure. Think of it as you would a fit bird's chest. Big boobs are great and all, but it's all about the curves.

i thought your vts engine was already camm'd when you did the conversion?

they are standard cams reprofiled... so not as good as some complete new ones

You want to beat your mate's civic type R... Hmm... This comment could stir up a real hornets nest mate!!! This depends on what type of RACE you are talking about. Personally, if you strip out about 100kg from your car, you would be close I reckon. The Type R's have similar low torque like a performance cam'd 106 / Saxo, but they have the advantage with the VTEC, so they don't lose out on the bottom so much, like us. You'll need to learn how to keep your revs in your (soon to be smaller) power band.

Do you see why peak figures don't mean a heck of a lot when you're dealing with who's actually going to win a race?
  17. #17
ye starting to get it.... i was thinking of quarter mile. he thinks its the fastest thing goin....it ony got indution kit. but thinks its a super car

If it's the model I'm thinking it is, then it IS pretty quick. 197 BHP IIRC...? Not the lightest car in the world, so that's your only saving grace.
