ive looked into it, got rough prices and what i would need

at the moment im just going for cams, the fact i dont use the car too much i cant justify spending that much on it in one go

yeah i thuoght of cams..but then i was told you need cams for throttle bodies

    also worried about the mpg

your best idea is go cams and standolone then you have the option of fitting bodies, headwork etc at a later date.

think im just going to go cams and standard ecu remapped, as much as id like tbs, i cant justify spending that money on them when i will hardly use car...
  10. #10
id still go standolone then you do have the option which you may want later, also you can sell it if wanted to split car.
  11. #11
yeah, but then im looking at paying a whole lot more on top of just getting cams and remap

The whole point of t/b's is so u can run wild cams so a basic t/b set-up would be

    t/bs
    cams
    standalone ie kms

that would prob be about 1800 or more then theres mapping an fitting an dont for get little things that all cost money.

Then there a big set-up like mine

    all of the above plus

    headwork
    highcomps
    an even bigger cams

then if u want more u can go even bigger cams then your on to solid lifters etc

I was thinking of going for some TB's in a little while. I'm currently using 708's. Can you get away with some higher duration cams on a 106 without any specifics. I was thinking the clearance might be an issue...

looks like all ur questions have been answered, i jsut saw these webber tb's on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Saxo-VTS-106-G...QQcmdZViewItem

anything more then you need pistons, springs. craigs aka godgti has custom cams that kept standard lifters

715s i think daveP ran on RR with 16v tbs, does hill climbing, went back to 708s because power was better with them...

alot of people want to dive into TBs without thinking about it!!

Jenvey 40's, Omex ECU, not sure what cam is in it, but extensive headwork on my 1360

So far 147 BHP at the flywheel and £5K on the engine

the TU engines respond very well with just TBs .. don't always have to fit wild cams...

Reduces charge robbing and many other benefits over the standard setup

ja i know of a TBd engine with very mild cams still making good power
  25. #25
you would be better off getting standalone and cams first mate then you will have the base for more modding in the futre.

standard ecu remap is around top end of 400squid at chipwizards (best place). you may as well get standalone kms and have that set to run the cams, then a little tweek when you get tbs etc, would make sence in the long run and probs work out cheaper DO IT lol

john from GMC, in previous ssc threads, says they dont do anything on a standard engine.
