Manifolds!

  1. #1
Looking to buy a 4-1 manifold for my VTR! At the moment i've got a cat-back magnex system and open piperx filter! Will I see much difference when I put the manifold on or not? Dont really want to spend £230 on a manifold if I dont see any gains! Also which is better GMC or Raceland 4-1 manifold?
  2. #2
raceland is 4-2-1, gmc is 4-1. 4-1 is better for vtr as the vtr has decent low down pull anyway, 4-1 will improve mid and top end where the vtr manifold is restrictive.
  3. #3
Should be louder too yeah? As this will de-cat my car!
  4. #4
The GMC manifolds look longer than standard manifolds! Do I have to cut a bit off the magnex exhaust for it to fit?
  5. #5
i bought a ashley brancher and it sits lower than the standard manifold, dont know wether this is the case with other aftermarket manifolds, but its now gon flat, so i know hav to have it cut and re welded, at an engineering firm cause its not a simple job apparently
  6. #6
I mean did you have to cut the manifold to make it shorter? Just want to make sure I know what is to be expected when i buy the manifold!

I had a Janspeed 4-2-1 on my S and never had any problems with catching but after replacing it with a Piper 4-1 (which I think is the same as the GMC 4-1) I now catch on speed bumps that I once cleared with the Janspeed.

I would say you Would see a gain, higher up the rev range compaired to the 4-2-1 like mentioned.

id say go for the 4-2-1 on the vtr and improve all the low down torque you have as its only an 8v that dont want the tits reving off it.

thats what i have anyway and wouldnt think of changing it
  9. #9
4-1 Vs 4-2-1 in size: The 4-1 will nearly always sit lower to the ground.
  10. #10
I have decided I am going to get a GMC 4-1 manifold and a supersprint centre section and leave my magnex backbox on! Will all these fit together ok? Anyone on here running with this set-up?
  11. #11
    anyone?

I want to order the manifold tonight off GMC motorsport, just need to know will the manifold fit to a supersprint centre section? and will the supersprint centre section fit to the magnex backbox? If not then would it be good enough to just cut the silencing box off the magnex centre pipe and weld a straight pipe to it?

  17. #17
I'll just ring them up tommorrow then!
  18. #18
I've heard a furio with a manifold like this and a magnex system and it sounded dead raspy!
  19. #19
let me know the price mate too cos im gonna order one soon
  20. #20
    Will do mate!
  21. #21
Think Hessle said it was £310 thats with VAT and delivery! Didnt say wether the gaskets came with it!
  22. #22
i doubt the gaskets come with it to be honest but they wont cost that much
  23. #23
yeah hess got his a while back and the new versions of it are 200 - 210 i think but am not sure if thats with VAT
  24. #24
i had same setup as you want but with 4-2-1 and it sounded great tastefully sporty with a raspy sound when you get up the revs

if i lift the cluth out slowly it sometimes would pop really loud
  25. #25
I just ordered my manifold today! GMC 4-1, Should hopefully come tommorrow! Would highly recommend GMC motorsport, great service and really friendly! Would deal with these again! Cant wait to put it on! Altogether it cost me £301.97!
