bigger brakes

  1. #1
right, i want to get some bigger brakes for my vts and from looking at what most people have, i think i will go for the 283mm discs and calipers.

but which car do they come on?

is it the 306 gti 6 or the 206 gti 180?

    cheers

    get either, theyre both fine.

Hey mate. Have you given yourself a budget on this?

set a price first eith 266mm 206 gti or 206 gti 180 brakes will do - if you have cash to burn grab sum 4 pots.

Im looking for bigger brakes aswell, ive got about £300

285's then 206 gti 180 must be at least 15" wheel.

206 gti 266mm will fit under 14" though

    its 283 aswell

if youve got 300 quid add a bit more and get some willwoods. cheaper than hispecs iirc
  10. #10
    yeah running 15's.

    so:-
    206 gti = 266mm
    206 gti 180 = 285 mm
    and i'm guessing the 306 gti 6 = 283 mm

what are the easiest to fit, and what needs to be done to fit them as i've heard that there are 2 spots which need grinding or such like.
  11. #11
Depending on the varience of caliper size etc 283mm setup may not fit under 15's without some grinding to be done.

See if you can measure how much diameter you've got behind your 15's (space varies across the board) and then see if someone with a setup similar to what you're looking at can measure the diameter of it so you know for certain if itll fit, or if not the extent of work needed

    Good Luck

EDIT: Give Williamsvts a PM if you can, he's quite handy with brake knowledge and i believe he can get you a good set and all the right parts for a decent price aswel

all hispec and willwood fit under vts rims!

however the hispecs are large so require a spacer of 3mm or 5mm not sure exact measurmant.

willwoods i think just fit under.

some willwoods dont have dust seals, all hi specs shoud do

Wilwoods 4 pots do fit under VTS rims...

Mate you mention dust seals, how do I know if mine do. Where do I look?

Since Rushy is lifting his skirt up again... I'll show you what I did. These a 306 GTI6 brake calipers, with Tarox G88 disks. They were a doddle to install, as they use the same fitment as the normal calipers / disks...
