Removing Gear Knob... easy way?

  1. #1
Hey ppl just got myself a white leather gaiter to fit round the gear stick. now the factory one is too tight to just yank over the gear knob, so the question is can i easily take off the gear knob to pull the gaiter off or will i just have to unsew the neck to slide it off?

Standard gearknob on a 2002 VTR

    instructions for dummies pls

Just pull it, should pop off.

k i hold you responsible if i yank the gear stick out though

... trots of to give me knob a yank :o sounds so wrong lol
  4. #4
just give your knob a wank i mean yank lol and it should come free

best off putting it into 4th, and pulling from the rear bench. gives you the best angle to pull it off.

but yeah, as said, just yank it like you've never yanked before

just had a quick yanking session and ive made a white mess :o

(yes this post is going downhill )

    Without richbrook surround -

    and with -

And ive used the old gaiter as a hand brake gaiter till i make my own out of white leather i just bought, not bad for a £5 gaiter may make a few up myself

Good man, looking good! Although I prefer the 106 GTI gear knob over the VTS one. Look into it.

Looks sleeker IMO. Favoured by most.

why have a cream gaitor with an ugly standard knob?

    The gear stick pulls off.

Just undo the one torx underneath and tug.

Cause i quite like the standard ones. most of my car is standard parts or standard looking and molested in some way for subtle look.

Went to Pug Dealer and they wanted 30 notes odd so ebay it is unless i find quickshift
  17. #17
30 notes, fucking hell. saying that i got charged a tenner for my radio code when i dc'd my battery!!

    robbing bastards.

wait till someone breaks a modded car and pull the quickshift

Mine just pulled off! give it a big yank, it will come off and dont worry it won't break..lol

look at the size of that yank:

Ok, so i assumed the position (thats seats forward, into forth gear and gave it a yank.) and it came off. but whats this white bit underneath, Do i need to unscrew anything? Or is it a tug a lot jobby? Or take a fecking huge knife to it?
