2000 VTR slight engine mods.

Yo. Just bought a 2000 vtr, and I want to make a few small engine mods. Just little things, to maybe improve the performance slightly. I don't really want induction kits, new exhausts or anything that makes it stand out to much or make tonnes of noise.

One thing I was thinking of is one of those green cotton standard replacement air filters, don't know how much difference one of those would make, if any (Though on the website I can only find the standard replacement filters for the models since 2001, and mine is a 2000.)...But that's why I have come here

So any decent suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

im not sure if they made a pannel filter your your model as you have a round air filter the older ones have a rectangle 1

how about an enclosed induction kit as they hardly give any sound

to be honest you wont see any performance from just an air filter anyway

Hmm. I just wanted it to seem standard, for when I eventually sell it. Don't want to piss about taking everything off, as most people tend to prefer buying the standard cars.

I was tihnking maybe ECU chips or the like, that kinda thing.

I don't know really, know sweet FA about cars really.

    chips wont work mate

you want a remap but theres no point on a standard car

you could alwyas buy things and keep the standard bits for when you sell thats what iv done

    ecu chips are wank!

replace the pannel filter for a more free flowing one.

you wont really be able to do much without increasing the noise slightly.

I don't mind increasing the noise slightly, I just don't want my car to sound like a mustang.

For those of you who have had a panel filter and an enclosed induction kit, is there really much difference between them? Don't mean to hijack the thread, just thought I'd ask while we're on this topic!
