What Lowering Springs, VTS!?

  1. #1
Ill be the proud owner of a vts in less than two weeks and i think slamming it is in order! Im looking to lower it about 45mm. Are the vtr alloys 15" or 14" cause ill be getting 15" alloys soon after anyway, do you think the arches will rub with a 45mm drop on the vtr alloys? Any suggestions on what springs is mucha apprectiated.

speak to gmc.. get some gmc -50mm springs and some bilstien dampers..

Depends on the year. If its a phase 1 then it had 14inch wheels phase 2 had 15s. I've got 15s with bilstein dampers and 40mm shocks and it does rub.

Sorry. Vts that is. Phase 1 had 14" wheels same as vtr's phase 2 had 15".

you shouldnt get rubbing on 195/45 15 's on a VT kitted one, even down 50mm you should be fine?

Basically on teh origional alloys you can lower it 50mm no probs normally. You dont want to go lower than that anyway if you want to get the best handling

    even on full lock?

you shouldnt rub even on full lock but if you do it will be very ligth and remedied by doing a little cutting of the platic arch liners

Yours are 16" right? how much is yours lowered and what profile tyres have you got? Did you have any arch mods?

im on 16's with 195/45 tyres, im down 50mm all round and i can carry a full car an luggage no problems (its nearly scraping along the floor though)

arch mods: Rear bumper bracket removed, rear arch liner modified, a little bit of hammering at the fron arch just to be sure and a little bit of cutting on arch liner and thats it

    Hows your handling?
  14. #14
its better than standard but not as good as it should be, my back end is a little to lower than the front and this is made worse with all the shit in the boot. I get a little understeer very occasionally.

Get it set up so the back end is lowered exactly as the front (i.e. lower the front and back the same amount not so the back end is lower than the front) and it will be perfect

im running 25mm drop on front with 16's, inner plastic had to be trimmed. still rubs on full lock. back aint lowered but that rubs like fook when people in back. wheels are 7" wide tho lol. sub weighs it down a bit and brackets were lobbed off. fuck it its only plastic.
