its where i kept sanding them for hours and when u get going the sandpaper starts to get hot and burn and thats what gave me the blister. i refirbished mine but i had to take them back to the bare metal as i wanted to do a proper job and didnt want the paint to bubble a few months down the line, u not got ya msn sorted yet pred?

i dont think there using any but the company that does wheel refibishment and diamond cutting near me uses a clear laquer to seal them in to stop corrosion and keep the polished look
  15. #15
i wasnt gona use any, i clean the car quite often and wont mind giving them a little polish.. but if they start to go dull to quickly ill polish them up and laquer them for good
  16. #16
When you laquer they loose their shine, abit!

I work on a building site doing plastering so my hadns are pretty tough
  17. #17
how have you got on with yours riggsy? how often do u need to polish them up?
  18. #18
    double post -.-
  19. #19
i use some poorboys wheel sealent put 3 layers on slows down the tarnishing
  20. #20
what do people think about using one of those little hand held sanders?
  21. #21
Already told you i didnt buy one, didnt need one did it all by hand ^^

I was told lacquer onto a polished wheel isn't great as the lacquer tends to deteriorate quickly as it hasn't got a proper surface to key to.

I've got some vintage porsche wheels on a bug and wipe them down with Baby Oil gel after a polish. This keeps them from tarnishing for a couple weeks and can be cleaned off and reapplied without re-polishing too much.
