My car has just hit 60k it had a service in november, is there anything main that needs changing like fan belt or anything and should i take it for another service, my brakes need changing and i need a new handbrake cable so is it worth getting everything done together?

    any advice would be great

    has the cambelt been changed

it will probley work out cheaper if you get it all done together but can you afford to have it all done at same time

I dont think it has, ive got the money to get it done, but if it doesnt need doing i dont want to be wasting money getting it done

ive heard cambelt needs doind at 60, also heard its 70, but thats on a vts

if you have money you may as well do it now when getting other stuff done, better to get it done now really

if its never been changed it needs doing

id rather pay for a new belt then a possible new engine if it snaps

I never leave cam belts till the absolute limit before changing them. Best to do early as engine rebuilds are expensive.

£70!!?? The full kit, including tensioners and the like cost more than £70. Then you've got the labour to consider, which will be more than the price of the goods. Claire, just ask around a few garages for a quote, dealerships will more than likey price you up something a little more expensive, but if you have FSH, you might want to keep taking it to the dealership.

Go for the whole kit though, not just the belt. It's worth the extra £££!

Around the 60k-80k its worth spending that little extra and having all new belts Cam belt and alternator/aux belt as well as the normal service items Oil, oil filter, air filter (if you still on OE panel filter), fuel filter, plugs and leads if you have them.

Somepeople go further, I think it was cammedVTS (not sure, sorry) that had head gasket, head skimmed and loads of other work done around the 70k mark.

Worth it if your planing to keep the car for along time to come and if you drive abit harder. Im gona do head gasket and head around the 100k mark if I still got the S by that time
