Advice for fitting a Raceland VTR Manifold?

   I'm going to fit my raceland 4-2-1 manifold today to my mk1 VTR.
   
   I'm going to buy the gasket from citroen, just wondered if there was anything else i needed before i start?
   
   Is there any advice people would give when fitting these?

   Be very patient and have someone help you who has small hands you will need a 13mm socket and wrench, 13mm ring spanners x2 10 mm ring spanned and some wd40 make sure you lube everything up and make sure you take off all the copper rings and dont leave one on the stud when refitting the manifold i done this and caused me problems as i had to strip it all down again

   just get some new studs, mine were fukd couldnt get the nut off, when putting back in you put the stud in first then the nut. tighten nuts to 15nm if using torque wrench, which isnt really that tight tbh

   not that long mate, its easy! i only had problems with my gmc as cudnt get it to line up with the centre section..... meant to be a good fit,
   
   manifold heat shield off, lambada sensor out, disconnect from centre section (cat in your case), undo nuts which hold manifold to engine, without a doubt i bet some of the nuts pull the studs out aswel, wd40 them first so you can try get the nuts off with out taking the studs out aswel,
   
   also i would personally go get new gaskets only £7 from shitroen!

   make sure you have someone helping you aswel! makes it easier, i found the stnadard manifold heavy so dont drop it on your toes! with my gmc i still had to move my lambada sensor its just a matter of finding the shortest route!
   not sure with the racelands, but from the racelands i have seen they are shite build quality!

    The gmc you have steve is much better built than the raceland. Pretty much straight away after the flange the pipes come straight down making it hard to get some nuts and studs in etc. You cant just put manifold on studs and tighten up nuts, you have to tighten up some of the bottom ones then inch the manifold along a bit and repeat. You will see what i mean.

    personelly, i would bin it and buy a well built manifold.

    Yeah steve the pipes cover where you need to mount the studs and bolts on a raceland and theres no way he can get a torque wrench in so bin that idea its ring spanners only im afraid for his bottom studs and bolts i had a great day fitting myn its difficult due to bad build quality but once installed its not bad at all really and does the job so the extra few hours it takes fitting it is worth it really cause of the cash saved

    a few people have said that theres glows red after a thrashing. not really what you want.

    just take altinator of and pull out the dip stick , as in pull out the housing aswel and you will be fine

    all in all i think the one i have is fairly good stainless steel and didnt seem to be too thin but the design is terrible and the studs and nuts are completely blocked so its impossible to get a socket on
