Strip out/cage or keep leather?

  1. #1
You all know my vts realy thinking about stripping it all out and sticking a cage in there?

Im not sure what to do though? I did it when i had my vtr and got bored but it was only a vtr?

I only use the car for fun ie when i want? Hardly ever have people in the back, only if i take my bro some where?!

Realy unsure? I love my 106 gti leather interior with 1.1 doorcards it looks very smart When we went to pick up the leather i stripped out the rear seats in order to fit it all in and it sounded amazing on the way up

    What you lot think?

what ever we say wont make you do it or change your mind, lol
    stripped ftw, get on track
  3. #3
    strip it you homo.
  4. #4
Strip it and sell me your interior

It's completely personal preference bud... if you do long journies on motorways etc. i wouldn't strip it as it is uber noisy... if you drive it for fun then go all out stripped

If you are going to do it, do it properly.

Completely strip, paint the floor, get a cage, 2 buckets and harnesses and go have some real fun!

I gotta admit, I'mnot sure the stripped look will suit your car. Love it as it is
  10. #10

    cage all the way
  11. #11
If i did it i would go all out ie cage buckets harnesses carbon doorcards!

I know what ever you lot say wont make me do it or dont, just want some input

If i did i could quite easily sell the leather and doorcards then use the money for buckets and subframes

    Hmmmmmmm....

    More input please.

    Ps Perky nice cage!

only a life saving piece of equipment but would you rather fit a set of lexarse lights??
  16. #16
    Now now

Found two cages on ebay, i dont realy want to have to weld it in.

First one, more of a rear cage...

    £214

Second one full cage but think it needs welding?

    £299
  17. #17
    rear cage is for gays!

full cage is good, yes the new omp (bolt in) does need welding it needs box sections welded in for the cage to bolt to
  18. #18
Ahhhh i dunno what to do.

    Ill have a think
  19. #19
all depends if you want it for practical use ie passengers lol
  20. #20
    cage it you schcchchchchllllaaggggggg
  21. #21

Keep your interior. They're getting rarer

Strip it and go for a proper full cage. looks good when you got a car to back it up
  26. #26
Cages are fine if you got the budget, the show ones off eBay are pretty but thats all - Id love to have a cage but I cant afford a decent one so it will just have to wait.

Besides I dont think I drive fast enough to warrent a cage Ive been known to drive like a girl somebody told me once I nearly cried

Cage looks shit imo! It's something I could imagine wanting on a dream car when I was like 7.

GTi interior is SOOOO nice and looks sooooooo good.

I took my back seats out, belts, shelf, speakers, you name it i ripped it out the back of my car, was noisy as fuck loved it!!! It's all back in there now though and i'm happy. It shall stay like that.

    Each to their own

With the styling of you car Riggsy, im not to sure it would suit the stripped/caged slag look!

Y dnt you strip it out leaving the 2 gti leather fronts in, if you enjoy the rattles and sqweeks aswell as the better acceleration, then sell the leather and invest in a nice set of buckets and harnesses!
  29. #29
No if i was going to do it id do it all

I would probably change the wheels aswell.

Think ill stick with the leather abit more, realy cant make my mind up....

    Cheers for the help though

strip it i'm on route to doin it
  31. #31
Tough decision Riggsy, think i'd keep the leather tbh. Just dont think i could cope with the noise or impracticality of it. But, if you dont use the car often, then by all means go for the cage.
  32. #32
now id personally have the leather, but im getting an old git
  33. #33
Stripping your car though isn't about looks. Everyone is saying it looks shit but most track cars aren't out there to look good!

Go for a full cage though, if you crash and roll it it will save your life as the roof where you will be sitting won't crush on you, in a half cage the front of the roof can still fold in crunching your face! Its up to you what you want to do with it though matey, i personally wouldn't strip it unless the car was going to be used on tracks all the time. A stripped car doesn't look all that impressive and isn't very confortable sat in traffic on the m25.

My opinion though, being sax-p im sure there will be loads of people telling me im wrong for having an opinion.

  36. #36
i love the look of a stripped car
  37. #37
Yeah i do love the look of a stripped saxo with some nice buckets and full cage!

Can any cgae just be bolted with no welding required, ot do they all need abit of welding?
  38. #38
Strip it like a drunken 15 year old
