i reallly dont know what to do, do i either cam my 1.6 8v or do i drop a vts/gti lump in, anyone running a vtr on cam's? what option do you think i should go for?
  2. #2
    vts/gti engine will be better

    then cam that
  3. #3
go 16v. more power, more potential, more high end tuning parts available, looks better
  4. #4
    8v

    16v
  5. #5
    go vts/ gti lump mate!!
  6. #6
    16v ftw
  7. #7
vts conversion for sure. More bhp per £ as you'll have to remap to get the full gain of the cams which is not cheap. Then cam the 16v lump
  8. #8
    16v = is a totaly different league!
  9. #9
so its the 16v then, when i do it ill most probs cam the 16v before it goes in and ill definatly keep the vtr badges

    Yup

Is the VTS engine a straight swap? - When you have Gearbox, ECU and Exhaust manifold along with the engine.... Does the manifold meet up with the VTR Exhaust layout.

Im tuning my VTR engine for now although its not money wasted as its only got 17k on it so when it comes to selling it tuned in 4 months and counting i should get a few bob back....

I just have to wait as insurance is already £176 a month....

Dout it you dont realy make money back on modds like that!

    Just do it for yourself.

Wish i didnt get rid of my vtr sometimes, should have just stuck a vts engine in, DOH!

just need to save up now dont want to rush in want to get a nice low milage lump
  13. #13
vtr with 17k on the clock id leave it standard

never done anything with mine, wasnt even tempted to 16v it, sold it for 3500, put it back to standard and made around 900 on the stuff, then vts for 1900 and spend the rest on it

matt your old car (and new car) was mint, i think ill save up about a £1000 and do it all in one hit
  15. #15
    go 16v VTS/GTi mate.

i have a VTS myself and jsut put the magnex system on and the new P+P throttle body. noticeable difference, not loads, but noticeable! manifold next for me then cams

Aren't they harder to sell afterwards though, with the engine conversion.

I'd just try and buy a vts personally.

ill most probs end up keeping it as a track slag, wheres the best place to look for an engine? as ebay seems dodgy
  18. #18
does it matter what mark saxo i get the engine from?
  19. #19
id prob just start again with vts. abs, better gearing, etc
  20. #20
id deffinatly put a vts gearbox in there
  21. #21
let you off then. would be easier though. but then could stick a diff in when changing the box. to get you going

Fill out your vehicle details on here and await calls, texts and emails with offers! They all give a minimum 30day guarantee and are quite prompt with replies – probs best wait till Monday when they will all be open though
