#2yup can be done, even better if you could fit a vtr bottom end on to give you more torque. just the same as you'd need to turbo any other engine John (have a search mate). single point injection would struggle with fuelling but as yours is a mk2 with multi-point then you'd be fine with adding a 5th injector. only way your going to do it cheaply is if you can find 2nd hand parts for cheap, manifold can be welded up but if it's done on the cheap it will be a bit of a bodge job to be honest.

#3it can be done but you will need to spend alot...!

#8Any engine can be Turbocharged or Supercharged look at Smartcars they run turbo's and they are under 1000cc, at the weekend I saw a kit car that had a Fireblade motorbike engine init running a turbo!
Its all a case of money. For the money youd would have to spend fabricating a new manifold intercoolers possibly uprated pistons depending on the turbo you want to fit you could possible find a small 1300cc turbocharged car factory fitted. It doesnt stop at the engine, you would have to toally upgrade the chassis and brakes and at the end of the day it would still be a basic 1.1 interior and exterior. Oh and dont forget the insurance too.
In short yes it can be done, anything can be done to any engine if, IF you have enough time and money
