Cheers again to steve for the guide, and for the heat dial prints theyre top quality. Ive stuck this thread up though cus i went to a Merc dealership today with the part number for the cig lighter, £24.68 including VAT! Anyone had better luck have i just got a shitty dealership? I wanted to get it all done in one go but i think ill put the rest in now and leave the cig light for a bit.

I aint got a clue which merc it came out of though only the part number, maybe Steve can help with that one later. At that price it must be out an AMG

Ooft, iv been to merc twice after work now & both times the parts desk s been closed

My soldering iron arrived this morning though so ill get to work this week on all the simply LED bits & leave my dials till this weekend, + a few extra tricks iv been planing for a long time but since steves stared these guides its finally made me pull my finger out (you could say he pulled my finger out )

Rest assured ill post up the wreckage after iv failed

What was your part number Ben, it works something like the last 7 digits refers to the cig lighter part & the first 3 and/or letter relates to your car model, iv seen 3 part numbers for em all of which go: X XXX 820 00 53. So i imagine it will be £25 for them all.

Shame cus one went on ebay last week for £4, i was gonna put a bid in last minute but noticed predator_vtr was hjigh bidder & didnt have the heart, then he was outbid by a random lol

lol gutted. hmm i should have thought of ebay. I asked for 'PART NUMBER A 210 820 00 53'. Off to ebay i go

£24.68 flippin hell i didnt pay nothing for mine as i used to work for them, i cant see you having a problem using any cigerete lighter as there all the same size jsut make sure u get a clear one, i only posted the merc one up becuase i was near the garge and couldnt be bothered to go to the scrappy to get one, the merc cig lighter is the same in a few different merc models even tho the part numbers are different its made off the exact same mold. get down a scrappy ben and jsut get a clear one out of any car as the cig unit should be same size on all cars

thats waht im gonna do have a rampage down the scrappy lol
  11. #11
might go down my local now have a look, basically find one with a clear lip and im sorted
  12. #12
Keep an eye out for me too preds, im scrappyophobic :Y:

on the led subject, ive just done the hazard button, and now it doesnt click in and out it just gets stuck. shiiiiit lol
  14. #14
make sure the led ent hitting inside the barrel of the button on the inside as mine did that bent the led up a little and then it was fine
  15. #15
Your not wrong Steve, spent about an hour tryin to get that hazard switch to work. Finally tweaked the led to fit properly so it clicked, and the resistor had come off so i had to start again lol

Went down the scrappy today, most cars had orange or green surrounds, or none atall, but i found two that had the right type. A Deawoo Nexus or something had a see through one, and an old school astra had a blue ring one. Couldnt get either of them out though, both of em had fooked doors and i couldnt just yank them out.

lol spent ages on ebay and didnt find that. nice one, might wait for what steve says agian but should be ok
  20. #20
steve was on earlier but he didnt say nought
  21. #21
That ebay one looks like a lighter green than the saxo one is, ill post up a picture of the saxos filter when i get home. The clearer it is the better (obviously)

One thing about the ebay one there though is that its a rare (ish) model of car its for so it will still cost more than it should to have it delivered to you. (Maybe everyone should put in offeres circa £3 lol and he might start accepting if thats all he thinks he will get for them )
  22. #22
its looks ok as some clear plastic sometimes do have a tiny green tint in it, however it dont come with the internal metal peice so u will have to use it off your saxo one but it might not clip on as good as the orriginal one designed for it
  23. #23
Might have to go for the easy option, anyone up for looting Merc HQ?

Just have to keep an eye out on egay
  24. #24
Yeh its hard enough to separate the origional saxo lens from the lighter unit. Could be a real ball ache trying to fit a granada lense to it, although come to think of it the dimensions are going to have to be pretty much the same.

If worst comes to worse it will probably only involve cutting any clips off that one & just glueing it to the saxo unit!

Yeh getting the plastic off the lighter is a ball ache looks like im going to have to hunt round the scrappys at the weekend!
