broke head off bleed nipple!

attempted to change brake fluid today on my 02 vtr and head of bleed nipple on driver's rear side caliper (first in series) sheared off! hardly applied any pressure either. break is a perfectly level with caliper body - cannot get at thread. luckily hole is filled with remainder of screw so no fluid leaking - although not been out driving yet to make sure, needed some time to cool down!

anyone else had this prob and managed to drill out remainder of screw successfully???

could you not get a thin screw driver and tap it out i snapped a bolt last week and i did that luckily it worked

the rear calipers are cheap enough anyway so might be worth getting a new or 1 from a scrappy

    saves messing about

they are prone to snap though

my old man has said he'll have a go at getting screw out for me at weekend - he's a lot more handy than me. been in touch with citroen and can get new screw on its own. if that doesn't work I'll start looking round scrappies for new caliper - seen on GSF it'll cost me around £70 for a new one. there was me thinking i'd save a few quid changing brake fluid myself!

heat it up with blow troch
    knock a screw extratcor in
    then remove
    refit new nipple

if you want you can post it up to me and i'll do it??

yeah, what william said, heat it up and use a stud extractor. dont use a cheap set though because they snap too.. you usually find the cheap ones in a small yellow case.

lol, yeah, they are shit. i had a set of them and ended up having to spark erode it it.

    a see-through yellow case? lol,

if you have plenty dollar get some snap-on extractors.

cheers for the replies - much appreciated. I would defo post you the caliper right away williamsvts if I could do without the car for a week or so! Gonna have to try and get the screw out with caliper still in place. Just need the time. Been for a spin and no fluids leaking, so will be driving around lacking a nipple for a while.
