people thought Z cars wer crazy puttin type R engines in saxo's

check this 700 bhp supra turbo engine.... in a 205
  2. #2
reposted off ssc from days ago.

    has the prop shaft uncovered.
  3. #3
    will the bonnet shut

looks nice though needs bigger arches on the rear to
  4. #4
why does it warrant bigger arches??which will increase drag??

its a drag car not a style car.
  5. #5
looks odd with bigger arches on the front then rear

why have arches at all then as it will reduce drag even more

having no bennet and lights will cause drag to
  6. #6
looks really weird, no pint if you cant get a bonnet on it, aero dynamics matter too
  7. #7
That is imense, i fancy it for my trip to the shops
  8. #8
Someone bought Redline this month. Big balls for doing it and I bet it is RAPID but still looks like a load of shit.
  9. #9
saw build pics of this a few years ago and wondered if it got finished

  10. #10
I don't like the concept but its quite an engineering achievement getting it to fit. Definately for drag only as it'll handle like a turkey on the bends lol
  11. #11
I just did the bigest smile! That's something erm... different!?!?
  12. #12
bloody norah! that is some achievement getting that lump in there!
  13. #13
that realy is an engineering madness. but looks amazing
  14. #14
i like that what is the 0-60
  15. #15
Anyone got the official webby of this or build story??
  16. #16
from the picture I'd guess perhaps .. www.team-auvergnate.com

anyone got the link to the orrigional fourm thread of the build? i had it before but lost it and it was differnt from the one posted up above

no totally wrong, sometimes a small arch will deflect the wind enough over the wheels without increasing drag, a huge arch would however act as a sail.

i would expect a bonnet to be used even if it has holes cut for the blower.
  20. #20
a lot of race cars nowadays have the back of the arch cut away
  21. #21
my point though.. that theyre there for areo effect if theyre there not for style whore nonsense.

yes but my point was it looks odd with little arches at the rear

if he was going for drag and aerodynamics a 205 isnt the best to chose is it

why not? its not an un areodynmamic car. and it totally depends on the class that the car may be built for. There are to many little pieces of info that you can speculate over until anyone actually speaks to the owner/builder.

700bhp means nothing if you have enough drag. a car with 450bhp could kill it if it had a better areo effect
  26. #26
Thats awesome. doesnt look quite right as its in bits at the mo lol
  27. #27
. i can see its impressive, i do realise that 205s didnt come with the Supra Conversion option. But visually, as it would to a 'normal' person who isnt into tuning drag cars, it doesnt look quite right yet because the hoods missing and theres pripework everywher so it needs finishing as it looks odd
  28. #28
aerodynamically wouldnt it have made more sense to go in the back end aswell? as the bonnets gonna stick out now

a clio is running slightly different times to a highly modified drag car 2bh mate.
i did not say it was the b all and end all, traction and gearing are very key, but there is a large gain to be made on getting the car to perform well in the air, exactly why most drag racers in top fuel are styled how they are.

then you run into differences in class, and possibly traction etc.

as i said in a previous post theres lots of variables that can be discussed as no one knows the owner.

I didn't realise you had a PHD in motorsport physics and built drag cars for a living.

as said before a 205 isn't exactly the best choice for a drag car ..... my guess is that the people who built it ....... couldn't give a toss

have a friend who works for a drag team, also have been heavily involved with motorsport since i was a young age and read into areodynamics as its something that interested me quite alot.

but then again i rest my case with you lot. you wont listen to information just want to make lame comments.

Ive got respect for you, you know your shit, but chill out. This isnt and never will be a hardcore tuning forum, everything doesnt have to be taken so seriously mate

im not taking it seriously, im trying to make a comment on why stuff may have been done how it was done, and effects of such things on a vehicle.

rather than just looking at it how i see it and going o thats shit, i thought that giving some feedback would be of interest to some people.

if you read my statements you will see that there are lots of variables that are debated until anyone had spoken to the owner over to find out why it was done.

my points were to give information as to WHY it may have been done. it has been others who have said that i was talking shite!

Love that 205, reallt good engineering excercise.

This last page was a good read too.

lol you love reading banter james! i think you know i like to make people aware of all circumstances before people jump to a decision.

    lol.

Yeah i have to agree with you on that one! I have experienced you myself. All in the past now though.
