basically.. ?VERY juddery, bluey smoke from zaust.. LOTS of it.

in the end, call AA. tries to turn the car on, it starts.. just, but very loudly, and then painfully cuts out. i asked him to tow me home, and i will get my mechanic to have a look.

on a receipt thing, the AA bloke wrote "possible big end"

    what does that mean?

oh, and my dad said i might need a new engine.. is he right??

Well Blue smoke is oil isnt it so, Could it be an blown piston?

Not sure, does it sound like its firing on all cyclinders?

How did it goe, was it all of a sudden or gradually getting worse?

Big end failure = Rebuild the bottom end. So it's a new engine basically, that's your best bet. How many miles has it done, was it regularly serviced? These dervs are uber strong, never known a failure like that. Is the cambelt still intact?

Might be worth just riting this one off and sourching another complete engine. While its out take the chance to chuck afew bits at it - budget allowing of couse

    Whats dervs?? lol.

If we are talking about a saxo bottom end then it was massivly neglected/not treated properly at some point in its life because bottom ends just dont go on TU's..Aslong as they are regularly serviced etc of course..

derv is a diesel mate lol

    Oh, lol. My bad..

Whoops - I didnt know we where talking about a Coal burner, sorry

I just though it was like a pet name for the car. My bad

I take back the comments about uprated parts, but still wouldnt it be cheaper to sourch a second hand unit rather than pay someone to strip it down put new bits in then put it all back together

well, we're waiting for my mechanic to have a look at it, but my dad thouught it would probably need a new engine.

VTS boy, it was fine when i drove to tennis. no problems at all. then when i went to leave it was not happy at all. didnt sound like all the cylinders were working. lol

David, the previous owner left some documents with the car, and it had some service receipets from quickfit. but i didnt look at dates.

cambelt was new not long ago, and it has done around the 59k mark

Thats unlucky! Especially on a Diesel

Cut your losses, sell and buy a new car

i am going to suggest that to my dad. if he agrees, i will aim for a furio or a vtr

i doubt it will happen though. lol knowing him, he will get another engine from a bloody scrappy!
