Can i turbo my vts ?

Hi all

Right just need some pro advice really i have been told that if i buy a bolt on turbo for my vts i can run it under 6 psi fine without having to change pistons or out like that is this true ? How much could i get it fitted for if it did just bolt on ?
would it run fine on a day to day basis aslong as i warmed engine up before booting its head in. I just really want to make my vts stand out on its performance it shirts well now as the engines fit but i want it to fly lol can anyone help ?

best thing to do mate, would be to give GMC Motorsport a call and talk to them about what your exact intensions are, they are the top dogs for Saxo tuning imo and are a fountain of knowledge!

Yep ^^^ good advice that.

Fine a company offering turbocharger kits and phone them up and talk to them about all the pro's and con's of fitting a turbo kit to your car. Your need a budget of around £4k it will go up if you cant fit any of the kit yourself.

There are about 4 or 5 companies I know of now that offer turbo kits but GMC are the Saxo tuning legends and what they dont know aint worth knowing!

Never heard that but a standard bottom end is fine for that sort of boost. To fit it *IF IT IS POSSIBLE* you'd at least need a sig converter (about 600quidish including setup) as the ECU currently won't recognise boost and shut down.

your going completely the wrong road if you want a daily driver turbo and are looking to spend minimum wedge. You possibly could get away with just slapping a turbo on and run at 6 psi. Its not that simple though your still going to have to run extra fueling and clutch, also for reliability i would not touch a turbo without an intercooler.

Its not cheap to turbo a saxo and have any sort of reliability

Good point - I think people get under the impression that you can simply change the manifold to a turbo manifold with

then drive off. Get in contact with GMC, Carwox or JamSport for turbo kits for the Saxo.

It doesnt stop at the engine - Brakes, Clutch and chassis should also be looked at when thinking of turbocharging the Saxo to be safe and reliable in everyday use

The big first cost though is electrical. Standard suspension with GTI-6 brakes would be fine

Brakes are I must but I think you'd need to do something with the suspension even if it was just poly bushes and lowering springs - Unless you was looking to do a real Budget car then standard would do I agree.

With low boost around 6psi like mentioned above would you need a upgraded cooling system of just an standard sized alloy rad?

i have heard that you can run about 200-220 bhp on a standard engine if you can get the fueling and ignition timing right.

probally wouldnt run for too long.

Reckon on uprated pistons for that kinda power and also that would probally be quite alot of boost if where still talking turbo's

and how would it stand out with 6psi on a very basic setup? when there are numerous cars near 300hp with mega specs.

If I was handed £4k-£5k and HAD to spend it on my S Im not sure Id fit a turbocharger.

Id try and spread the money over every aspect of the car trying to improve performance both power and handling.

But someone hasnt so I cant spend it anywhere

no such thing as a cheap turbo setup matey, unless youi really know your stuff and can do all the oily work and fuelling setup yourself.

gmc are shit hot with forced induction saxos. they do not do an off the shelf turbo kit, but would for the right price, ive already asked john last year about it, he wanted the car for a while and wanted to try different things out to get the best out of the car and get things right to start making a turbo kit. he stated that it would not be cheap and would probs be cheaper to just get a super charger kit off him

carworx make some nice cars with impressive power figures will really knows his stuff and has built cars that have silly power.

you could get the bits seperate and build the parts up over a period of time. most expensive parts will be the turbo manifold, turbo and intercooler. then you have the sig con, mf2,air flow meter, extra injectors, boost pipes etc. you can get away with using 2 multi layerd steel head gaskets to lower the compression, but will be better off in the long run getting forged pistons. pointless running the car at 6psi on a cheap budget, it will only cost you more in the long run as you will want more power after driving it for a few weeks lol then there is the remapping of the standard ecu or going standalone to get the best from the car, neither are cheap.
remember that a turbo is forcing compressed air into your car and placing alot more stress are the internal parts, skimp on areas and you will pay for it big time.

defo get some uprated bigger brakes and an uprated clutch from the likes of helix or AP racing, they can handle big power all day

another good place that know their stuff about turbos on a saxo is dp engineering in the netherlands try pieter at www.dp-engineering.nl he has some good prices for his kits and has had some impressive results, his turbo manifolds are a work of art
