306 to saxo brake conversion....

  1. #1
    hey.

was looking at a smashed up 306 xsi the other day and the brakes looked bigger then the ones on the front of the my S.

Now was wondering what size are the disks? also how much smaller then they compared to the gti-6 setup that most people go for??

If i could get hold of all the bits cheap would it be worth doing? or wait to get a big brake conversion or gti-6 setup???

    cheers guys

I dont think they would be much different to the gti-6 set up mate, I would personally go for the gti-6 ones to start with.

266mm, i dont see why people NEED the 283mm it? i have went gfrom gti180 to 4 pots and now down to 266mm. as they offer great braking and less rotational mass.

you can over brake your car when you dont need to.

saxo are 247mm. 306 xsi are 266mm, if its an early one it will have shite calipers, needs to be the facelift version to have decent calipers.

    where is this woodgates place?

I used to pay £30-40 for a pair of mint calipers, but i know the guys at the breakers well and i have the joy of taking them off, identifying them etc.

yep, 266mm discs are a great mod and increase the braking loads, i have 283mm 206gti 180 discs and calipers on mine and they are shit hot, you can nearly pull endos lol

anything bigger than 266mm wont fit behind 14" alloys mind you.

they also go straight on without the need for any grinding of the calipers etc, they just fit in the same holes and use the same bolts as the vtr/vts

any pug over 1.6 or most deisels the likes of a partner van and berlingo has 266mm discs and calipers fitted. these are also the same as the 206gti

    206 gti = 266mm discs
    206 gti 180 = 283mm discs
    306 gti-6 = 283mm discs
