New exhaust..

Hello boys and girls. Just put my VTR through a MOT and the dude told me my exhasut was on its way out but he will put it through for me, after i paid for new handbrake cables which they snapped when testing the brakes? so he says. Anyway he said the cat pipe is eroded or something like that and it would cost me £170 to get it replaced *picks jaw up*. I said leave it for now, i'm not rockerfella. I really want a full stainless steel performance exhaust but i am not sure where to go or what system to get. I live near middlesbrough and wanted to drive in and get one fitted. So if anyone has any reccommendations i would appreciate some advice.

    Cheers in advance.

if the cat is gone you will need a new one of them and that price is about right for one you need 1 for it to be road legal

magnex or piper exhaust are what id chose

order 1 and take it t any garage to get it fitted

i would go with piper they sound wicked, as for the cat look on www.eurocarparts.com i got mine for about £48 for a stainless steel one, where shitfit quoted me £250 for a mild steel one

Thanks, So i would need to get the cat bit replaced and then the performance exhaust would fit onto that? I though i could just buy a full performance exhasut with the cat included.

with a straight through exhaust you will decat the car, will be ok until you get to the MOT in which case you will have to replace it with a cat, the exhaust usually comes in three ections so its just a case of taking one section out and putting the cat in place, then you can put the decat back on after test

its easy to do if you have some ramps or axle stands

so just get a cat from a breakers in good condition, as you will only be using it once as year

just relised yours is a 2001 1 vtr so cat is in manifold

where i sthe actual problem the cat or after the cat

I havn't looked at it myself but the dude said the cat would need replacing so i am assuming its on that bit. I suppose i could get the cat done, i dont fancy messing around changing it over every year. So i get the cat, then would i need the centre piece and the back box. Its the original exhaust and will all probably go soon so i might aswell get the whole lot done and be done with it. Just been looking at the piper and magnex on some sites and its a bit confusing, i dont want to mess around with the bumper.

ABP do a nice single box magnex system. looks the same as pedators but it only has 1 box instead of 2 as standard magnex comes with 2 boxes.

never messed with a car that had the fannimold in the cat so carnt help you there bud lol
