Port Head & Manifold so what cam?

  1. #1
Well fuckin finally ive got a head coming and my manifold....

Its ported, polished & gas flowed.... and the manifold is a miltek one..

I was guessing for power gains at around 15 - 20 bhp.... as it is but i want to get a new cam put in it..

Whats the best one with this setup; For driving fast when i need it but still driving steady to work etc.... The 285/o

    BMC CDA
    Piper Full System
    Manifold
    Ported head
then remapped the day the head cam n manifold are fitted.....

dont know about what cam you should get but this sounds quite impressive.

piper are favoured by VTR owners mate

you're induction will limit what you should fit as no doubt you want to keep some sort of normal idle. Give QEP a ring and tell them your spec and the cars use and they will be able to choose a nice catcam for you

i doubt you will ahve time to get head and cam fitted then get it mapped in 1 day. + you'll have to take it to chipwizards t get mapped unless your getting standalone ecu?

where did you get the head from?

Well i was saying in terms of getting them put on not literally one day......ill get the bits put on myself over a weekend probably. But may be a while off as buying a head & a manifold is my spend for the month up. Dont wanna go mental and buy loads of shit...but i wanna fit cam at same time so will wait till next payday for that purchase..

Bought the head off a company called SP Performance Centre. Id link you up but they dont have a site. Usually do track + superbike work

Ive sent QEP an email to see what they can offer! - Cheers Kam

Should have gone to LAD for headwork and manifold - they claim an extra 50bhp!

I think 15 - 20bhp is a bit optimistic for just headwork and mani.

    What?

Dont you rekon a head + a manifold would gain that?
  10. #10
no, nowhere near. 10 if your lucky. its the cam that will release the power

qep could sort you out with a catcam that would suit the mods you have.

newman also do cams too, ralleye registor lads recently got them, not sure if anyone on there has fitted them yet and got any rolling road results yet??

cam will defo be useless without a remap of the standard ecu, chipwizards are the best, wayne can set it up to run better with the mods you have to the engine and also raise the rev limit a bit

not a cheap mod, but the best way to get the most out of the headwork and cam

you will benefit from a vernier pulley to mate
