Standard Air Box

Ok, on my car at the mo, is a piperX open filter.

I have now got myself a standard air box, and im going to fit it sunday. Am i likely to notice any difference in performance, or petrol consumption when i change it? Am just interested.

Also does anyone have a picture of what the standard box looks like fitted as mine never came with one, and would just like to know what it looks like!
    Cheers

If your fitting a standard filter as well, you may notice a slight difference in fuel consumtion but nothing major. Performance I dont know, I wouldnt imagine so.

do you mean i will use more fuel or less?

with the standard box its more enclosed but i dont think you will notice anything, maybe put a green panel/cylinder filter in place and you might

you would use less fuel, mpg will improve

i have gone for a pipercross panel filter in my standard air box in my vts, i have a direct cold air feed pipe that feeds cold air straight to it instead of the shitty standard system.
im thinking that it must be good for something as its fitted as standard
got to be better than having a cone filter sucking in warm air from the engine bay

it will be much better than an open kit located at the back of the engine bay. At low speeds the engine won't suck in any warm air so you may get a bit better responce.

so i could use the cold air feed that goes to the piperX and feed it to the standard? And use less fuel! I like the sounds of that!

ill dig out a pic of a mates, but basically he ran std airbox with uprated panel filter KnN i belive with a feed going to the box after removing something.

not as good as his green enclosed buy 10x better than a cone in hot air.

Yeah but its very restictive, especially just before the box where it narrows. Green panel with a direct air feed pipe to the std box is the way forward without paying silly money for a carbon box, theyre good obviously but a lot of money

dont plant the loud pedal as much and you will save fuel

i found that when i had my filter on, i used to nail it just to hear the roar, hence the fuel increase.
standard box and panel filter, its feels the same, but dosnt roar as much. im not to arsed as the zorst is loud enough lol
