track Slag

  1. #1
been looking around and styles and what not, and i can say i have the track slag bug.

i'm very tempted to go pure track slag.

race style floor mounted buckets, 4 point harnesses, full cage, the lot.

other than the full interior inc. sound deadening and carpet, what else is there that i can strip out in prep for a true track looker.
  2. #2
Headlining and thats about it really, you have mentioned everything else.. Also the centre console where the window switches are can be removed, i relocated my switches where the radio used to be.

Glad to see another track slag.

  4. #4
where abouts do you live then?

i acctually live in brent knoll, a crpay village about 5 mins from weston.
  5. #5
Oh ah i know. I live in a village called Wrington, about 10 miles from weston, not far from churchill .
  6. #6
yeah i know where rington is, vaugely!

    been through/past it many times.
  7. #7
headlining but its a nightmare to get back on will need a few pairs of hands, you can use a holesaw for the dash to cut bits out to make it lighter or even just take it out

All I can say is if your gona do it properely, then rip everything you can out and start with a bare floor to see where you can work. Then you can mount subframes, harnesses and cage properely etc.
  10. #10
Here you are mate, this is my car.

  11. #11
    Yep feeling that

Im on my way but nowhere as close as that (yet)
Ordered my 3point Momo Harness the other day to match my Momo bucket but its outa stock so it'll be a while till I can fit the bucket

Bullit has lost the front door cards also, gota say tho alot depends on how far you want to go. Its not just interior that can be lightened.

Light weight exhausts and light weight wheels will see a noticable difference.

If you can get the car below 900kgs then your be onto a winner an further and its a bonus.

Plastic windows and carbon fibre is for thoses with deep pockets, so start with removing the rear interior parts then see how you like it then go from there.

One thing I will mention - If you got a loud exhaust it WILL be very 'Boomy' inside with no interior and on long drives expect it to be hard work. Strange mine rattles more with less in it than when I had stuff in it dont get that
  12. #12
    LOl, cheers mate.

Yeah i agree with everything VTs boy here has just said.

I might lose my doorcards at somepoint but i like some comfort..
  13. #13

    Good man!!

Alot depends on how and where you are going to be using the car. If you still require the car to be a daily driver then keeping some creator comforts such as drivers side door card - for storage - centre console - for storage - and the Radio as not many people can drive too far with out Some kinda background music.

Where as if the car is intended to be a track day car ONLY everything apart from the Dials - itsafastworld has removed the complete Factory dash only leaving the dials - a Seat to sit in and a steering wheel to . . . . . . steer by after that everything eles is dead weight and the more weight the slower you are!

Also if you are track only then semi slicks are a good investment - Have to be brave to use em in the rain hence you have to work out where and how much you are going to use the car, working this out will help a great deal and determine how far you go with the stripping.
  17. #17
All i did was take everything out except the doorcards and dash, i use my loudspeaker on my phone for music if i really want to listen to something..

I also use it as a daily car, 80 odd miles a day 5 days a week in it. I love it soo much how it is..

But 16v boy is right, it does need some thought.
  18. #18
    Blody hell

    Woo, i'm not alone!!
  22. #22
90miles a day wouldnt want you fuel bill lol
  23. #23
My fuel gets paid by my boss.
  24. #24
mines a daily driver, not quite that many miles tho, around 250-280 miles a month and i want fully stripped, might keep center console bit and i might leave just front speakers, not sure yet.
  25. #25
what about mudflaps? if its stripped and looks rally/track slagged are they a yes or a no?
  26. #26
For a rally style car yes for a track car no.
  27. #27
whats the big difference looks wise?

they are both stripped of interior, both have buckets, harnesses, roll cage etc.

so how do you tell if its track or rally?
  28. #28
you cant really, if you are wanting a rally style car then put mudflaps on and if you want track dont have any, but tbh tarmac rally cars dont use mudflaps very often anyway so might look a bit odd if you have em. i wouldnt bother, weigh too much.
  29. #29
    haha, good point.
  30. #30
All you really need is a nice looking Bucket - colour and style is more personal choice that right or wrong for the style - a decent harness and a nice motorsport inspired sterring wheel and not alot else really.

Im only fitting the one bucket as 1- the missis doesnt really fine them comfortable and 2- If I ever want to do strip or track events then the passanger side will just come out. No point in spending £300 to have an empty seat next to ya

Light on the car and light on the wallet
  31. #31
    Go sparco too.
  32. #32
heres a nice little tip if you use your stripped out car on the road. Get down your local motorbike supplies shop and get some earplugs. They mute the engine noise enough without removing all the sounds of things going on around you. Go for black so you dont look like eyou have dayglow ears lol
  33. #33
    Good point Kam!
  34. #34
