i have a k&n on me car at the min would it be better wif the standard air box. cheers
  2. #2
I dont think you'd be better off in anyway but alot of people do rate the standard airbox with an aftermarket filter in approach
  3. #3
yeah better off, get a feed to the standard airbox with better panel
  4. #4
wot ye mean mate put me standard back on wif dif filter
  5. #5
    yeah....
  6. #6
what he mean is use a green panel filter or something similar and put a feed to the airbox, so put the standard airbox back on, the cold air feed would have to be before the filter

actually what k&n do you have on is it an induction kit or panel one in the standard airbox???

i will try and get a pic of mine tomorrow. its a KN in standard airbox, silencing removed and cold air feed put in place.

Cool yeh, I could do with seeing that as thats what im about to do.

Basically a open filter will allow the engine to rev more freely due to the increased surface area compaired to the OE panel filter but all open cones will suffer from heat soak ie drawing on warmer air rather than cold air.

If you still have the OE air box refit it but fit a larger bore tube or hose from the front of the car directly into the airbox rather than use the OE air intake system with the resonator and other narrow pipework.

Also a Panle filter from K&N or Green should help to

if its just and open k&n filter ditch it mate will lose you performance if anything...

    or

Buy A Raceland enclosure and stick the k&n inside that way you get the noise of teh k&n with slightly improved performace, thats the setup on my g/f's vts and it actually works suprisingly well....

do the raceland enclosures for the vtr fit furios?
  12. #12
Im pretty sure they do - If you want a 100% rock solid answer check with www.kam-racing.com they sell RaceLand items, they also offer a Saxp discount so have a look and check with them

I've never looked in the standard air box so don't know what it's like, but would it be possible to fit a green cone filer inside (like the replacement green filter kam racing sells with the raceland enclosed)? I'll probably feel very stupid with the following answer lol Might aswell ask though!

you need a panel filter mate
  15. #15
Yeah, that's what I'm planning to get, just had the above idea and thought it could work lol!

yh best bet just gettin a green panel filter
