adjusting turbo actuator

  1. #1
i have a t2 turbo and am very sure it has the standard actuator. does anyone know if i adjust the length of the actuator rod, it will increase the boost as i am only runnig 3psi and 5psi when bleed valve fully open!!!!!

if i remember right bud u have to shorten the rod

is it not adjustable ... i think iirc you shorten the rod by tighting it up

    dont quote me though ...

what car did the turbo come off? most cars like rst's etc... boost at around 12psi with a standard actuator. and using a bleed valve u should be able to adjsut the boost more then an extra 2 psi so something dont seem right there. jsut as an example on my puto gt it boosted at 15psi with no blled valve and after i fitted a bleed valve i could adjsut it anywhere between 15 and 25psi. maybe the actuator is fooked, u could get a -31 actuator as a replacement and use a bleed valve with that.

i agree with you on that. i think its the bleed valve i got with the kit isnt too good as it only small. will invest in a better bleed valve. does anyone have any recommendations? - dont really want an electronic one though!!!

i ahve used turbosmart and never had any problems with that one, why dont u disconnect the hose on the actuator and then block it up on the otehr side and then take the car for a run, it should keep the wastegate shut and make the turbo make full boost but jsut go slow and see if the boost is raised

the turbo is a t2 and im sure the gut said it was off an r5. do you know what psi they run standard, mine runs at 3-4 psi standard!

standard there 8/9psi if i remember right but more then capeable of 15psi with a bleed valve

sounds like your actuator is kippered.
the spring and/or diaphragm inside the actuator perish.
a new actuator should fix the boost problem.
