the turbo kits range from about £2000 on ebay to about £4000 new, then obviously yu have the labour charges for fitting them, which is usually priced at £28ish an hour. You will also be advised to upgrade your clutch, suspension and brakes, these are not inclded in the turbo kit, so will be at extra costs. Then you have to consider extra insurance, running costs, repairs costs, etc, etc the list goes on and on and on mate!

There are quite a few kits on the market for turbocharging the 8v and 16v TU engines these days but Id stick (if it was my money) to either GMC, Jam-Sport, Carworx and possibly Cituning. All the kits will set you back around the £4k mark and you best allow for an extra £1k for fitting and anything that needs replacing that hasnt been budgeted for.

Personaly Id rather just take my money to another car but if you are thinking of spending that kinda money get on the phone and have a long chat with all four suppliers and compair notes.

Has any of the figures put you off at all or are you still keen to look more into the conversion?

Most kits can easy whack up the bhp to around 160bhp sometime more depending on what else your running and differences in setups. 160bhp in a car that weighs less than 1000kgs is gota be a good idea

Also a well installed high quality turbo kit with the correct PSi will run fine only needing slightly more oftern services than a normal S or R
