Boot popper help

Been thinkin bout getting a boot popper soon. I know this has been covered before, but after usin the search ive still got a few questions.

Obviously i need to buy this;

But the buttons a bit gay, as it says trunk and im not American. So what i want to do is link it to a switch in the dash. I want to put it in one of the free 'buttons' above the head unit.

As ive put the blue and red LEDs in the dash recently, cheers to Steves guide, id like to have a button that acts the same. So it comes on when the lights are on, and when pressed.

Also i need one which will work with the boot release, not keep the motor contantly running etc so that it snaps the pully cable. Are any of the illuminated ones from Maplins ok to use, id get a blue one. If not, where can i get a suitbale one?

Another question, can i keep the wiper motor and boot locking mechanism if a boot poppers installed? As the cars alarmed and it might go a bit mental if the boot mech is tampered with i think.

This ones for the wiring pros, it says you can use a RELAY and then link it to a free button on your alarm fob. The cars fitted with an Ai606 alarm with 2 free buttons on the fob, could i link one of these up to the boot popper, or will the alarm fitter have to do this?

if your having your boot smoothed then all you need for your alarm is the same thing that they use on your bonnet so that when its opened your alarm will go off if its armed.
when i had my boot smoothed the locking mechanism was taken out as there was no way of opening the boot when it was closed.
as for a button your better off with a push button that only works when its pushed in which will avoid the cahnces of your motor been left on and burning out if you forget to turn it off.

Cheers mate, that helps yeah. Im not gonne get the boot smoothed though, i would if you didnt have to put the numberplate somewhere else if that makes sense.

^^ i know what you mean, have a look at my progress thead to see what mine looked like with a smoothed boot. it would have been better if i had got a recess done for the number plate in the bumper. but now i have a standard boot thats been de-badged and think it looks miles better than smoothed

Yeah, still phoneless so its hard to get in contact with anyone. Let me know wen n where, and this time it might be better if ya take me for a spin rather thn me tryin to keep up badly lol

jsut an idea for the button you can do what i did for my mate, i took a spare blank button and a spare rear dimiser button (the one that is a push to make not a on/off type, use hazzard for on off type) next i popped the old button top off and then took the blank button and then cut the button top off that, i then glued the blank button top where the old button top went. i used a multimeter to find the rear connections i needed and cut the old pegs off, the end result was a factory looking blank button that worked,

as for rigging it up to your alarm i have not worked on the alarm u have but have a look in the manual that come with it and it will show u two wires of something that can be link to the solinoid and be controld off the fob

Nice one steve, ill look into both of them. The toad alarm manual is shockin though, literally a pamflet about 8 pages long with very very basic info, so ill take sum pics n wack em up on here

lol sure mate, im busy this weekend, might see you at the meet on monday and im at donny next weekend so sometime after that for a WSM photoshoot again i reckon lol

Yeah i might be there, depends on when we get back as im pretty sure im workin. Week after Donny, im either goin on holiday with the family or on a weekender in Newquay with some mates, so that could be an issue. Might have to be mid week?
