Cams question

   I have a Mrk 2 Vts and I want to get cams.Is there any way that I can get cams without having to get a new ecu?Iv been told mine cant be re-mapped, and I was also told that instead of getting a re-map I can just get an air and fuel controler.Are these true?Thanks

   you dont need a remap to run cams, well as far as im aware and my mates 106 gti is cammed without remap and runs fine

   But Iv been told that if I do it that way, I wont get that much performance.

   getting cams and not a remap will not give you the maximum gain, all it will do is move the point at which max power is achieved.
   you will defo need a re-map when you have fitted cams, other wise i wouldnt bother tbh.
   
   a re-map will sort out all of the fuelling for the new cams etc.
   you will find that the car may run rough on idle too.
   
   it all depends on what duration cams you get mate.
   
   a decent set of cams, with filter, manifold, de-cat and a re-map will probs see in the region 0f 140 - 150bhp. without a remap you wont be anywhere near that.
   
   a re-map of the standard ecu will prob set you back £350 - £450 depending on where you go.
   
   chipwizards are the best imo from what i have herd.

   a re-map will also allow you to have the rev limit raised

   boz is spot on there with what he said!
   
   can i ask a question? who told you that your ecu can't be re-mapped? and what makes it so different to other ecu's? if you have a 3 plug ecu, it can still be re-mapped, but its just a bit more difficult!

   wayne at chip wizards can re-map it. hes the mutts nutts when it comes to re-mapping standard citroen ecu's

   its not more difficult to remap, just the same. mine 3 plug has been remapped.

   A guy I know who has 2vts's told me that because its a 3 plug ecu, it cant be re-mapped.Also so far I havent actualy found anyone in Ireland who can re-map 3 plug Saxo ecu's, but il keep looking and if I cant find anyone, il have to take a trip over to this company chipwizards.Do they have a website?

    my 3 plug has been remapped, and i know of 4 or 5 others that have aswell.
    
    get yourself to chipwizards. their website only has a phone number on.

    Thanks for the help.Iv seen on other cam threads that your the person to talk to bout cams.What cams would you recomend that I get?And how much did it roughly cost you to get cams and remap at Chipwizard?Also what brake are you at at the moment?Thanks mate

    cat cams 708s
    probs around £350 for the cams (extra for the lifters)
    £350 - £450 for the re-map (depends on time spent on rollers)
    and around 150 ish bhp at the moment, iirc

    i didnt pay anything for my 708s i swapped them for some piper 270s i had, which i got off ebay for £200 im good and not spending much
