Rear cage or full cage?

  1. #1
    I want a roll cage

Some one said just get a rear cage as it will still stiffen up the car and save my life. Only get a front cage if its just a track car because if you crash it without a helmit on it will hit your head?

    What you think people?

    This one...

    Rear cage

it will also be more of a pain getting in your car, lol. ful cage rocks though

the rear wil do a good job (main flex in middle of car), a full better but then thers always something better, extra bars etc

as for hitting head ive heard that. but cant really comment. keep your airbag, lol

    Hmmmm.

I also wanted a harness bar but i wouldnt get that with just the rear cage would i? Would need to buy an sd full cage right?
  4. #4
i take it sd dont do rears
  5. #5
actually riggsy im sure someone on ssc has a rear sd cage, not sure on the harness bar though, best contact them see what they can do
  6. #6
As I've said before I have the full SD cage, not yet fitted and it looks the dogs bollocks. I plan toput foem pading around the bar where my head will bounce and on the down pipe near my right knee

The OMP one will only offer basic safety and rigidity.

If you want to stiffen up the car then really you want a decent weld in cage

Will get you some pics of mine fitted next weekend if I can

That OMP one in the link is just a show cage, thought you didnt like show cages riggsy
  8. #8
The omp in my link is a propper half cage!

The half cage will still stiffen it up alot as Bullit says main flex in middle of car.

Ill try and find out about half sd cages then.

    Item Title :

OMP Rear Bolt-in Roll Cage CITROEN SAXO ALL MODELS
This is a "SHOW CAGE" - NOT Homologated for Motorsport

    Item Description:
OMP manufacture a small specialist range of what we call "show cages", they bolt into the rear of the car and are designed for easy installation. They come unpainted ready for you to paint any colour to suit your car.

Its deemed as a show cage but if you add a front half, then it becomes an FIA approved cage.

Get a Safety Devices if you can.

The OMPs are not bad but there are better options out there. In my experiences where a mate and I built a rally car, it was annoying coz he had a half cage, then swapped to a full cage. Taking one out and putting the other in was a pain! So get the one you really want and stick with it.

Sam Cook has a nice SD half cage iirc! With harnesse bars etc.

The Full SD requires a lot of input. I was gona get one coz i got offered one cheap but turned it down due to the work it needed to be put in. Alot of welding and fuel tank removal etc.

Just get a bolt in one Riggs lol.
  11. #11
Oh and BTW Riggsy, I will be buying the OMP half cage soon lol.
  12. #12
Fair enough, didnt realise lol, just stating what the advert said! Look pretty cool though
  13. #13
I brought a omp rear cage like the one in the link and i went to get it fitted today at a local garage but it was to high to fit so now i either have to get it cut down and the plates re-welded or take the roof lining out.So if you do order one make sure it fits before you get it paint/sprayed.

if u want a harness bar why not go check some local fabricators and ask if they can make u up a bar and weld it in place as a harness bar they willl be good welders so it'll be strong enough to hold ur harnesses

just get a full cage and get some padding, you know you want too
you carnt have sexy full blown race seats with a half harted cage.
thats just letting the side down
get an 8 or 10 point full cage.
the SD cage is sex, but very expensive.
you could just get a sparco or omp full cga eand have some extra bars welded in for harnesses etc
  17. #17
Think your right mate ill wait and get something like this...

  18. #18
then you need to add a spare wheel in the back, a fire extinguisher, some window nets and some name and blood type stickers on the rear side windows for that proper rally look
  19. #19
    LOL ^^^
  20. #20
    I want a full cage

I just think i'd look like a nob going to my local asda, undoing my harnes.. stepping over the cage. To top it off i could wear a helemt everywhere i went
  21. #21
LOL, if anyone laughed at me when i got out after having all that fitted i stick my helmit on and run at them

    Cloud you already have harnesses!

I was just looking ahead with this thread, more important things need sortin first!

if you want a full cage you could leave out the door bars to make getting in and out easier.
Personally and from a safety point of view I'd rather have the complete cage.
