Just rang jampsport, asked how much to have 708's fitted, new timing belt fitted, and all remapped and i provide parts.. 850 quid inc VAT , is that good or expensive ?
Fitting cams and remap quote...

#2I'd say that was a fair price mate!
-
#3its not bad, but you gotta buy the cams, how much are they for a pair?
-
#4Id say that was expensive lol..
You can get a remap for £350 quid and fitting should cost 400!!! -
#5Interesting. Wyane Schofiled (Chipwizards) doesn't map for Jampsort any longer. I wonder who's going to be doing your map! You should ask!
-
#6a rip off tbh
williams will fit your cams for £30 -
#7exactly, for an extra £20 i will also do the belt.
-
#8OOoo if thats the case how far is nothumberland
lol

#9213 miles

#10When you fit the cams, do you have to mess with timing or owt, like if i got them fitted would the car work and run then or do you have to mess about with things ? if it was as simple as getting them fitted by your average joe mechanic i can get that done easily..
-
#11you have to take the timing belt off when doing the cams, so the timing will need doing.
tbh, i think that is a bit expensive mate.
a re-map will be around 400quid. so the rest will be fitting, it defo dosnt take that long to fit them. just depends on how much they charge an hour for labour and how much they spend fitting the cams and how long it takes to re-map the car on the rollers.
you can do the cams yourself with a coulpe of dial test indicators to find TDC (top dead centre), then sort the timing belt out (how to guide sticky on sax-p, stevenet15 made it), but if you dont know what your doing, i would defo get someone to do it for you.
williams has done a few and knows his stuff

#12well, what i was thinking of doing was taking it to my local engine place, getting them to fit the cams and if i tell them the inlet needs turning anti-clockwise approx 2mm and the exhaust clockwise approx 2mm, so it idles properly etc they should be able to do that shoudlnt they without a problem ? ?,
the guys there are very good and helpful
, because id prefer to take it to chipwizards anyway !
-
#13ideally, you want to make sure they know what they are doing. the timing will need to be somewhere near, they vts has adjustable pulleys as standard so if they know what they are doing, it shouldnt be a problem for them to set them.
if they are set wrong etc you could be looking at big probs lol
decide when you want to do it and get it all done pritty close together. you can drive with the cams set somewhere near etc, but you will probs end up with rough idle (some peeps have the car cutting out too), then try and get to chipwizards asap to have it all re-mapped.
basicaly, the less work wayne has to do to the car, the cheaper it will be. im not sure if its a set price for the re-map/setting etc or if he charges for the time spent working on the car? (labour per hour etc)
it should be fine after that as he is supost to be a GOD at re-mapping standard ecus to run cams and shit

#14i would also get some new lifters for the cam mate, you might as well, just incase your old ones are worn

thats where you will get an idle on standard map. but you wnat the inlet clockwise about 1.55mm and the exhuast anticlockwise about 2mm for power. but on standard map you will get a rough idle at these timing marks. -
#16it will be getting done all close together, for example, cams fitted, then a few days later drive upto chipwizards, im just wandering if i should ask the place to fit them on the standard timing marks and then let wayne mess with it, but just didnt know if ill be able to drive it there cause its a good 2 hour drive ...
-
#17If i get this local place to fit the cams, using standard vts timing marks, and then drive it to be mapped the next day will it be ok until i get there, then obviously chipwizards can tweek it ..
-
#18yeah i need to know the above question too!! i can fit my own cams and belt etc. but if i fit them normally (as you would a standard cam and belt), will it drive okay for me to get it there for the re map and to be setup to its new toys??
-
#19just rung chip wizards and had chat to them about it. he advised me to use catcams 708 cams, and to retard the inlet anti clock wise 1.5-2 mm and the exhaust the other way. then they sort it all out when they do the re map etc.
takes around 4 hours and is 450+ vat. thought this was quite alot?? is the only place that does factory ecu's?? -
#20thats the price mate, theres a few other placess cheaper but this would be the most recommended. peace of mind too, you dont want someone else to fook it up.
-
#21ive asked the garage thats fitting me cams if they can set the inlet to -1.5 and exhaust to +1.5 but they said that they will not set it out of standard timing. so will wayne do this?
-
#22Thats the main question i would like to know, if a garage fits these to standard timing marks
1. will it be ok to drive upto chipwizards about 2 hours ...
2. Will Wayne mess with the timing to get it right for best power when its there for mapping
Thanks. -

#24Dont go to Jamsport - enough said. Get williams to put in your cams and get your car mapped by Wayne @ chipwziards if your not going to tinker with anything else. If you are then get a KMS and get it mapped @ GMC
