#2Well first off, welcome to the forum mate.
There is someone on SSC who has done this. It can be a long winded job, as you have to replace everything on the front end (slam pannels the lot) and then you have to get everything sprayed up. So it can be expensive.
What model of the pug were you looking to do the conversion from? -
#3you will need, slam pannel, wings, bonnet, lights, and clips and stuff.. why would you fit a 106 front? the shape to the wings wont line up with the car etc..
just get a mk2 front end saxo
-
#4I wouldn't do a front end conversion on any car really, as when you come to sell the car it will look a bit dodgy. Like you are trying to hide some sort of crash. Oh wait, you are lol.
-
#5just thinking ov a mk2 gti front, would a mk2 vtr front fit if i had wings lites bumpers etc?
-
#6Do you have a flat arched saxo atm mate?
-
#8wont work then look weird with the vtr arches onto the gti bumper surely
-
#9thought i'd bump this up as im interested in knowing if any1 has done it, and what it turned out like?
-
#10if your doing a face off why not do something crazy like a audi tt front end??? convering from a mk1 to a mk2 is a complex enough job, changing manufacturer just gets even more complicated..... i say if your gunna do it go crazy.
-
#11jus wondering about puttin mk2 106 gti front end on a mk2 saxo VT*, havent got money to be sawing up TT's! lol
-
#12just buy a 106, much easier tbh, and it will probablies cost less
-
#14in all honesty if you replace the slam panel, bonnet.... etc.... then yeah it should work no probs at all. the vt arches will blend in pertectly alright i believe providing thier glued in place....... personally if you fancy a change why not write the car off if its accident damage your hiding and buy a mk2 106gti? lol would prob be easier.
-
#15im buyin a 106 gti (i think) thats had a previous accident, gonna take the engine out and basically strip it, jus thought it would be different to have half and half lol, Saxo GTI styleeee!Quote:in all honesty if you replace the slam panel, bonnet.... etc.... then yeah it should work no probs at all. the vt arches will blend in pertectly alright i believe providing thier glued in place....... personally if you fancy a change why not write the car off if its accident damage your hiding and buy a mk2 106gti? lol would prob be easier.

#16would be interesting... should work tbh.... get pics up when you do it and keep us informed.

the shape of the front wings will line up they have the same shell and the contours of the doors are the same...so why would it, with the slam panels etc???
i say do it....alot of boys have done rear end conversions saxo bootlids on 106s and vice versa...get er done mate! -
#19anyone got pics of it done?? i think it might look kinda cool if everything lines up ok!
-
#20i reckon it would look amazing would surprise alot people pug on the front saxo on the back.
-
#21if you want a sax with pug front end go for a pug and put the vt kit on it or the other way round a sax with gti arches i thought of putting the gti arches on my flat arch sax wen the 2 are modded they confuse folk as it is that would realy fuck them up lol
-
#22i think i saw on 106owners club couple of weeks ago some1 posted up a 106 with the VT* kit on it, looked quite well done, iv just spent the last hour an hour tryin 2 find it, still cant
i will keep tryin lol
-
#23found it
was some guy called alans it says. its a s1 106 with VT* arches, eccosse front bumper, and jap rear...
-
#24try french cars ireland mate.lol
but it would be too hard to make the saxo arches to blend in with the 106 arches -
#25that 106 looks mint! i think it all goes together well good
