#2alright mate, When was the last time you changed your discs? are they warped?
-
#3they could be - never changed
-
#4could be that then. are they worn do you know?
-
#5not sure how can i check? also mate any idea how much itd cost to have the boot holes filled?
-
#6If you take off the wheel and feel the lip on the disc. there is a limit on them not sure what it is though.
As for the boot holes, i'm not too sure they will need filling and spraying so i think maybe probably around a tonne? that is a guesstimate, could be really wrong -
#7if i bought some new discs and pads presumably this would sort it - 1 does this count as a mod and 2 would i notice the difference or wouldnt there be any if i got say better of the discs and pads?
-
#8Nar mate wouldn't be a mod...its general wear and tear. Unless your thinking of upgrading with a performance part. Will probably notice a difference, smoother braking and aslo brake pedal wont go down as far (thats what happened to mine anyways) its a real piece of cake to do too! especially on our cars
-
#9haha just looked on aa route finder to see how far it would be to come see your car - almost 4 hours! ok so if i was to do it whats actually involved like lol? cause iam interested in this can you recommend anything as well and the amount id likely have to pay?

#10well i did mine last week, from halfords £17.99 a disc, on halfords trade £9.64 each then i asked a friend that works in a auto place and he got pair of mintex discs for £12! and to fit them is literally a case of...
Removing wheel, punchin out the 2 pins on the caliper, whipping the pads out, undo the one torx bit (tx30?) holding the disk on, replace disc with new one and crank up that bolt again, push piston back with an adjustable spanner or similar object then put pads back in. Put anti-rattle spring in place and punch pins back in....put wheel back on job done
it took me an hour to do both sides.
dont forget to replace pads too! a also got a fitting kit from halfords too, was £5.99.
4 hours blimey thats a trek. where abouts u from? must be just aboit further that leicester/birmingham way? -
#11stalybridge man near manchester... sounds complicated but ive got a haynes
so will any like 4 stud discs work? and you suggest mintex? what about pads - ol i was expecting to pay like hundred or 2
-
#12Well when I took mine to formula1 last time i'm sure they raped me of about £120, I managed to do it for around £40 on my own. It is a piece of cake especially with the help of a haynes bible. There are 2 different pads for our cars though. If urs has got ABS i believe you'll be looking for ATE pads. Halfords sell their own brand and Ferrodo pads which are ok for OE pads.
With regards to discs, there are specific ones for different vehicles. Any where like Euro Car Parts or GSF car parts of Halfords etc will be able to tell you the ones suitable for your car. -
#13cool cheers man - off to bed now or i wont be up for work tomorrow ive got the same car as you too - no abs lol its a 1.1i
-
#14yeah thas right...hard to the core baby! lol.
Ok buddy, no worries, sweet dreams
