i have a saxo vtr blacktop 1997 and i need to replace the engine....do i need to get anouther blacktop eninge or will a silvertop be alright aswell? Also does the year matter? And if asyone has one!! let me no!!

Pretty sure a silvertop will drop in but might need different engine mounts?

it will be easier if the ecu type is the same as the old engine (single plug or 3plug) as you dont have to change the loom as its more hassle. so if its the same ecu type it should be ok - but the ecu may need decoding or summit like that

sounds good then....i think the ecu type is the same....just i cant find many blacktops around....what is the difference? apart from the colour!!

i would search first as i may be wrong, dont really know the difference just think the silver top is on newer models
