Want to paint my alloy filler cap

    Please can someone help?

I want to paint my alloy filler cap but not sure if standard car paint would take to the alloy.

Wet'n'dry the whole of the cap to give it a good base for the prima to stick to.

Might be worth removing the bolts first so they dont get covered in paint.

Wipe over the cap with white sprits to get rid of any dust and bits left by the sanding. Then use some 'Filler Prima' as its a bit better than regular prima.

LMore lighter coats are better than one heavy coat. Allow to dry over night, wet'n'dry it with very fine sand paper to get a smooth finish then spray you colour of choice, again allow to dry over night sand then laycer to give a glossy finish.

Put the bolts back, then fit it

    Job done.

Give it plety of coats as remember your be handling it everytime you fill up and the chances of it getting scratched are gona be quite high.

With it been aluminum, youd be better using a zinc primer, or an acid etch primer
