#3has boz got a vts or vtr?
sourcing second hand parts will cost a few grand for a rotrex kit then ecu, youll save a grand on labour though. depends how lairy you go to whether how much it will cost. etc pistons, rods -
#4quite a bit, well quite alot actually lol, but as bullit said depends how wild you want to go tbh! still maybe somewhere in the region of £3000 just for parts, thats if you get them cheap. i'd recommend the C30-64 charger personally
-
#5yeah doubht that will appen
-
#6lol makes me laugh when people ask this thinking it will be about £500 and as soon as they find out its more like £5000 they bin the idea instantly!
-
#7my first answer was gonna be, are you serious about it or dreaming
-
#8boz had a vtr supercharged which caught fire, now rebuilding it
-
#9sorry to
but can you add a S/C aswell as Throttle Bodies?
-
#10yes you can. sybez runs both
-
#12wasnt saying it was a good idea though
-
#13make sure you defo want to do it lol
i was thinking about it for ages, then i had the cash ready and was going to get a full brand new gmc setup , i was really jammy and found a full set-up from gmc that was running an old charger with all brand new gear (just scan the for sale section in here and SSC). I got that for a bargain price and still needed a few bits and bobs, which soon mounted up. I think i spend around £2.5 - 3k doing mine.
I also got myself a twin plate ap racing clutch, bigger brake set-up etc.
I fitted the supercharger set-up myself, it only took a day to get it all on (a full day, morning til night).
you can save a few quid by hunting around and getting the parts separatly, you dont need to get the gmc intercooler and radiator (but its the best setup), you can run a 106 dieseel radiator and header tank (as standard filler neck gets in way on vtr), you could use a small intercooler off and turbo or diesel car, then you will have to source the charger, charger bracket, mf2,sig con, boost pipes, boost hoses, extra injectors, air flow ratio meter, uprated fuel pressure regulator.
to get the most power from it, you would be better off fitting low comp forged pistons, head work etc etc the list will go on and on.
but i would say that budget for a grand or two over what the kit will cost you as you will need to get a good uprated clutch from the likes of helix or ap racing, a bigger brake setup, decent engine and box mounts. dont forget that the insurance will go up too, dont try and not tell them as they will know straight away. my car was all sorted and accounted for, when it caurght fire and the police arrived along with the fire brigade etc, they all knew straight away that it was not standard and that it had either a turbo or S/C or it. There is no hiding the fact. I would check that out first, make sure you can get insured before you pay out for the kit.
its not cheap to do as you need alot of uprated parts that will cope with the power hike. -
#14i have had to spent a shit load more on the car since the fire, but its worth it in my opinion

Great info Boz, fair play to you mate you have put a alot of time effort and money into a great project!! -
#16lol, cheers mate

she has cost me a shed load more money this time round lol
im no expert in S/C or turbo cars, learnt most of it along the way by just doing it myself. I picked up a load from certain peeps with boosted cars
