Will be a big squeeze mate. Probably going to need archwork without lowering to begin with. Depending if you ever carry any passengers.

Probably best forking out some extra to get 40 profiles. That will help.

17s on 45 profile will require a lot of work on a flat arch saxo

also on 17s with 490 profile its going to require a lot of work as well even without it being lowered its going to require cutting

what can 15" on 45s be lowered too safely without hassle?

on flat arch saxo 15's with 45 might rub even without being lowered, its just a daft metal lip on the flat arch saxos, easy to bend out the way or cut off

depends on number of doors... 5-doors appear to have a wider area and so accommodate 15's on a 45 with plenty of space, also looks like it'll take lowering too without arch work

    r3d,

I'd contact 'snewham' on the site... he was running 16's on a 40 profile and had no end of trouble despite a lot of arch work... he maybe be able to give you a few pointers to avoid faffing around

If our already on 16's is it worth going upto 17's?

Like mentioned 17's will need some arch work. 17's on a flat arch saxo are alittle too big for my liking but if they are sutble and a classy looking rim they should look fine.

why would you want to! the money your spending on 17's you could get lucky and put a vt kit on!
  11. #11
becuase my 16s need new tyres and these 17s are 100£ with decent tred so it will cost less for a new set than to re tyre the ones on nw. and i have no catching on my 16s at the minute although the car does sit like a tractor
  12. #12
and putting it on 17's will rectify the tractor issue man?
  13. #13
get some part worns! i would imagine they wont cost more than a tonne
  14. #14
    O_O
have you considered buying a set of VTR alloys and lowering your car?

?? what are they and lol im not fussed about the tractor issue
  16. #16
part worn tyres, tyre shops sell them, there tyres of wrote of vehicles, there like half price of normal ones, every tyre shop sell them!
  17. #17
k ill give thm a go u recon under 100 for a set of 4 fitted??
  18. #18
Have a look on here www.mytyres.co.uk

You have to buy either pairs or full set of 4 but look at the prices - you can pick up budget tyres with no real brand for silly money.

Check them out before buying part worns.

As for VTR rims these are the wheels all 8v VTR Saxo's same with out of the dealerships all them many moons ago. They are a 14' wheel that are 6'wide and take a 185/55/14 tyre you can go super low with 14' rims with no real tyre rubbing until your touching the tarmac

15's are the best all round size for Handling, looks and the ablity to lower nicely without to many problems. Later 16v VTS's came with a 15' alloy twisted 5spoke with a wider and lower 195/45/15 tyre.

Id go for the 15' as they really do sit well with the car and will bring your car down out of the clouds.

not entirely on your wavelength on that.

    Anyway to some up...

no they wont fit without arch work.
  21. #21
ok so scrap the 17's eny 1 recon i should keep the ones im selling on ebay and retyre them and slam it or should i let them go and get some others??
  22. #22
    go 15 or 14 man.

will look a million time better. with styling it isnt about how big but how a mod compliments the rest of the car... 17's do not compliment a standard saxo.
  23. #23
lol not aswering the question keep them or let them go??
  24. #24
let them go and get some 14's or some 15's
  25. #25
    I agree with Ads!

That dude that had 16's looked afwul IMO so 17's will look worse. Anything bigger than 15's look out of place on a flat arch!
  26. #26
k well im not sure about getting smaller ones i might just get these lowered if thats posible without arch work but thanks for the advice enyways
  27. #27
LOL ur an ijiot m8 but u do live on a farm so u need a tractor. See people on here agree with me get vtr or vts wheels for ur car m8 n lower it forget big wheels.

    what im trying to say

    politely is...

youra will probably look pretty gash unlowered with 16's on a flt arch... take snewham's for example.... that looked rough,

yet you think bigger is better....
i know this has Nothing to do with your original question but please... 15's max. on a flat arch saxo.

lol! I agree with ads, dont go more than 15 mate, will look rubbish!
  30. #30
my 15s rub with 2 people in the back and that was witht he arch rolled up. i would hate to even fit 17s for the thought of how it'll sit and drive like...go 15's buddy
  31. #31
17s arent good for a 1.1, i think personally. why would you wanna make your car even slower than what it is??? i had a 1.0 corsa which i had a choice between 17s n 15s and i chose 15s and it wasnt fast but it was faster than what it would be with 17s lol
  32. #32
why on earth would you want 17's on a 1.1i saxo?
  33. #33
17's should go on with no real scrubing issues on standard suspension. You might see a little when you are carrying passangers in the rear but apart from that you should be ok.

If your keen on keeping abigger wheel, how about the Peugeot 206GTi wheel?
It is called a 'Nimrod' and is a 16' multi spoke wheel. With the correct tyre profile I think a 45 profile tyre should be fine and you mayeven be able to drop the car slightly with no real clearnace issues

There are a few people sporting Nimrods and they look very nice, the cross manufacture wheel look is very in this year ie Peugeot Wheels on Citroens and the other way around.
