whats the top speed of all saxo's factory tuned and if you have a top speed for your saxo???
top speed??

-
#2Use search pal, there seems to be 5 of this thread made a week.
The quickest factory standard Saxo is the VTS and will do 127mph -
#3had my vtr do 123mph with gps.
-
#4so hw people sayin there vtr or vts does like 160mph??? isnt tht hard to reach on standard gearbox??
-
#5jonny, its probably nigh on impossible with a standard gearbox,
VTR having the longest final drive, i dont think it touches 160mph, even if you had the power to get you there.
which a relatively standard VTR certainly doesnt. -
#6thats wat a thought so people are just talking out there arses lol
-
#7well if you have a custom gearbox, and a lot of power to get you to 160mph, which im sure people have somewhere...
but most people yes.
you've gotta consider that when people say my dials read 140mph, at that sorta speed if you give a 10% approximate incorrect reading, theyre doing 126mph. -
#8Standard box would take you to around 135 - 140 if the limiter was set as standard I believe. Perhaps someone could give a more detailed answer.
-
#9ah rte a see now cheers m8 just now a can stop the arguement between me and my m8s
-
#10In my experience, ive seen a VTS with an exhaust and open filter go off the clock (140) on a flat piece of road.
theres no way in hell it is actually travelling at 140+ mph. -
#11vtr gear box on a vts WITH THE POWER to get there will do 163mph on standard vts limiter.
Never mind all the people that think they can do 140+ on a saxo with an air filter. -
#12yeh a was gonna say coz my m8s vts which is quick wont go past 130 by wat he recons like? mine av had roughly 115
-
#13how could you find out safely?
-
#14Rent an airfield strip.
-
#15could you do it on a dyno?
-
#16A VTR box is geared to do what MPH?!!? Are you serious?
-
#17I believe so mate.
-
#19yes it would be.
++ private road i hope.
-
#20Lol 125mph from my vtr. The book is always a lower speed than the car is going to get. saves people complaining to citroen that the car never gets to that particular speed. could be talking gash might u lol
-
#21thats seems true like a could see manufacturers doin that??
-
#22I doubt it,
the figures the manafaturer state are true to that model on a flat piece of road im guessing. -
#23Suppose it maybe will be. But for my 1.1 when i had it can't mind what the book said but i managed 110mph out it. spooky lol
-
#24yes, you managed that speed on the dials.
imagine your dials are 10% out,
thats 99 mph. -
#25hahaha no wat a say ask the police to chek wat speed u do on there gun and then drive at your thirty mph on your clock and see what they say!?
-
#26well it said that on the clock lol
-
#27Friend did that in his VTR with VTR wheels.
drove at 30 mph.
sir your doing 27mph according to the gun.
if its 10% out at 30mph, what is it out by at 140mph? -
#28so if i was doing 130mph what would the proper speed be then???
-
#29well not 100% certain, but realistically around 110-115
-
#30I had my VTR to 120ish on a "private" part of the M5... Felt like it had a tiny bit more to give, I got scared though
It was 2 in the morning and no one was about BTW -
#31lol. done this the other night but on the by pass. think i burnt the coil pack or summit cos she aint running right now.Quote:I had my VTR to 120ish on a "private" part of the M5... Felt like it had a tiny bit more to give, I got scared though

-
#32so whats it like to travel at that speed??
-
#33what a 120mph?
-
#34yeh coz at 115 it scared shit out of me lol!
-
#35its not too bad tbh.
the one time i really been scared in a car
is 160mph in an Escort RS Turbo 4 of us in the car, full tank of fuel.
thats from one junction to another on a motorway thats only 1 3/4 miles long O.o -
#36wow lol a would shit a brick at that speed lol a was on the back of a bike once doing 125mph i was scared then like lol but i had such a smile when i got off lol
-
#37Yeah man, of course.
Speed is a rush.
But at the same time, its amazingly dangerous. -
#38P.S this Escort was a rusty shell, not awful, but spots of rust.
in an escort at that kinda speed, all you hear is Wind, feels like the windows were coming in. Mad too see how fast the white lines and trees go past you. -
#39hahaha you must of had some balls then a tell you what a wouldnt go in something with a rust spot if it can travel at them speeds lol
-
#40254bhp Escort 1.9 RS Turbo.
love it. -
#41had my saxo at 125ish there few weeks ago, soullless ur rite tho, dials always lie, your usually travelling slower than they say!
was racing my mates 115bhp bora, was neck and neck.. his clocks read 125 also..
hate seein people sayin their saxo does 140 etc.. a loada bull if you ask me!
btw my saxos a bog standard vtr, and she did 125 flat out. cudnt get any more out of her, so slacked off after a few secs. -
#42got mine into orbit i was going that fast so around 17,500mph... the tyres burned up on the reentry tho
-
#43LMAO Ad..Quote:got mine into orbit i was going that fast so around 17,500mph... the tyres burned up on the reentry tho

My westy and i have been 117mph on the clock on the flat, thats stripped with a 4 branch mani, sports cat and a cat back system..
Got to 100mph quite quickly tbh for what it is but after that it started pulling slower..
Top speed means shit anyway imo.. All about handling, braking and acceleration.. my car can embarrass bigger engined cars out of roundabouts and off the line due to the fact it weighs as much as a teabag..
-
#44Saxo speedos are pants… if you look at your rev counter you can work out how fast your going! If you can hit the standard limiter in 5th on a VTS with standard wheels and tyres, you’ll be doing slightly over 140 - about 142 I think
-
#45couldn't you use a SatNav to get your proper speed? I've had the needle go right to the end of the dial (110), and I was still accelerating, on a downhill motorway in my 1.1, so they're obviously out
-
#46I hit 110mph in one of my dreams one time. sadly satnav would tell me i was doing 99mph so i have ignored it.
-
#47max ive had is 118 off the dials, not sure how you get 125 from a standard vtr.
-
#48____________
-
#49Had my Furio (1.4i) Speedo reading 117.
Down slope, Flat out (not on red line, but was going no further) - Only engine mod is PiperX Induction kit, with no cold air feed at all.
Its not so fast with this engine in, so would probably have done 118 - 119 with the old engine.
That was running 14" VTR Rims with 55 Profile Tyres.
Got to 100 well, then slowed off a bit.
It did have a full boot though.
I was still an hour late to yeovil though! -
#50i had mine hooked up to digi moto and it read 129 mph and its only a bog standard vtr no engine mods watso ever
-
#51on a private track i've had 138 out my saxo and that was on my GPS mine is a phase 1 VTS with magnex decat and raceland still didnt limit in 5th tho
My mates phase 2 VTS with just raceland find it hard to push past 125
