Bucket Seats - fitting to VTS

  1. #1
    Hi all

Just wondering how easy it would be to fit bucket seats to a VTS. I dont really know much about this topic tbh and would be grateful for some advice.

I know that i would have to buy the seats (obviously) and the frame is there anythign else i need? and where is the best (cheapest) place to get them fitted?

What price would i be looking at to get some decent seats (inc fitting)??

    Cheers all!

fit them yourself! Its a very easy job to do...usually only a few torx head screws. Many seat manufacturers come with universal frames and some come with car specific subframes. Car specific subframes will bolt on using the existing mounting points, but universal ones may or may not just bolt on. Most racing seats are designed for two parallel bars to be fitted and the seat bolted onto those.

Seats range from around £200 per seat for a budget motorsport seat to full carbon jobbies at £1500!

So say i bought 2 seats with saxo subframes, it is just a case of unbolting the standard seats and frames and bolting the new babies in??

Has anyone ever posted a DIY guide to doing this on the forum?

Are the wires an issue, I know mine has various wires under the seat. What
    are they for?

yes it really is that easy. What may be more difficult are your seat belts. Are you going for harnesses as these will require a few holes to be made.

The wires are for the seat belt pre tensioners.

When you take your old seats out to replace with buckets these wires will stay disconnected there fore the airbag light will stay on.

Only way around this is to take the bulb for the airbag warning light out, or you could use some insulating tape?
