cs vts engine conversion

hey guys. This kid i know is selling a R reg saxo VTS but hes put a c2 vts engine in it... are they good? hes selling it for £1500 and im thinkin of buying it but i was wondering if there are any hidden complications with changing the engine that might bite me in the ass in a few months.

    cheers

Think the c2 vts engine has alittle more poke than a saxo vtr engine & better mpg. You might get the trip computer etc aswell if they have swapped looms & ECU.

Dont know how interchangable the engines are though, this is the first i've heard of someone putting the whole c2 lump in2 a saxo.
  3. #3
are you sure its a c2 engine and hes not having you on
  4. #4
thats what i was thinkng mystic never heard it been done! heard about people talkin about doing it, or bits of the c2 but not the full lump
  5. #5
i saw a Saxo with a c2 VTS engine advertised on SSC before, was wicked red.
  6. #6
yh this one is wiked red!! mayb its the same one. i havent actually seen the car only what i been told.
  7. #7
my mate had 1 (wicked red 1). it will be fine mate. he will only of swapped the block as you need to use all the wiring, ecu, inlet throttle body etc off the saxo vts engine.
what manifold is he using though? as the saxo 1 wont fit unless you fit the saxo sump and the c2 1 wont line up with saxo exhaust, or does it haev acustom exhaust?

mate, where is it from. can you pm me pics as i know A LOT about this certain car and if it is the 1 i know of do not buy it.

The one on the SSC was a mk2 X plate which bellonged to Falcus.

Most likely the engine will be running the Sax VTS inlet manifold and management. Could be good, check taht it doesn't tap like fuck (Falc's always did!) and that the fuelings ok

I'd probably just try and buy a decent VTS though

    theres one on pistonheads now

    http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/156726.htm
  11. #11
That pistonheads one has Saxo cam covers. Unlikely it's a C2 lump
  12. #12
yh thats the one.. the one on piston heads..
  13. #13
is the c2 vts engine 16v 1.6? same as a saxo vts?
  14. #14
its is a 1.6 16v but the picture on piston heads is of a vts lump i think. VTS rocker cover, looks lieka vts head too. Standard vts manifold... unless its an old picture (in which case why put it in the advert) then thats just a '98 VTS

yh just spoke to the misses (its her friend who owns it) and she said hes puttin it in soon..
  16. #16
I'd let that one pass mate, hes selling it as having a c2 vts engine in it when he hasnt even started the conversion? No telling the kinda problems he might run into!
  17. #17
yh thnx for the advice ill have a chat with him. but doubt ill buy it... might just keep my peugeot tbh
  18. #18
why is he changing the engine?
  19. #19
Just buy a VTS as the C2 VTS engine isn't a conversion worth doing to a VTS
  20. #20
if my engine dies that what i would put in.

there must be a reason for him to be changing it though??
  21. #21
and btw, that car on pistonheads isnt wicked red.
  22. #22
i know a lad that put a c2 vts engine in a 01 vtr he had to make his own loom up but its runs fine. i think he used saxo vts inlet and exhaust
  23. #23
he couldve just used the vts loom and ecu.
  24. #24
also if he's selling the car hes bound to cut corners on the conversion, it aint hard to fit a c2 vts engine into a saxo, everything just bolts on except the inlet mani which needs new studs drilling and tapping into the head, timing covers modified. sump changed, im currently running c2 vts engine with low comps and 8psi turbo setup in my 106 gti
