Big disc conversion any good ?

  1. #1
Hi i want to elminate brake fade and get a bit of better stopping power thats the aim.

To upgrade to 283 calipers then discs and pads uprated it seems it comes to around the 350 pounds mark...

I see that GMC sell a big disc conversion and so do godspeed, both are the same price £225..

Anyone done this to there saxo and what components have you used if so THanks.

This is the kit im looking at ... been told not to get green stuff pads though ?

Also Hi Spec do a similar conversion for 209 pounds but that doesnt come with any brake pads..

there better as i have one but for the money just get a set of gti brakes off williams

id prefer to not have to mess around with changing calipers, im only going to do the odd track day etc... is that a good setup ? good stopping power etc...you have this setup dont you ?

as said there better. you could go 283 plain discs for 75 quid then the adaptors for 40 quid. then some pads.

but really id get the gti breaks. 180 dilivered then the extra just pay someone to wack them on

gti set up is far better. and your going to be removing most of the brake set up to fit the spacers to run bigger discs anyway. the only additional work is quickly changing the lines over and a quick bleeding of the system. which isnt alot for the extra benifits you will get from a better caliper rather than just big discs.

    green stuff are shite.

and speak to hi spec direct rather than Gs Motorsport.

Go for the GTI setup imo off williams, i have got this setup and you get calipers, discs pads.. the lot..

also you want to get some goodridge braided hoses..

    Your bolloxed then, lol..

Just get uprated discs and pads then..

i can see where your coming from, but ive done a search and people have said the main thing that stops brake fade is a bigger disc, i understand the pad wont have as much contact on the disc but im sure the heat distribution will be good...

Ive noticed godspeed do a kit aswell but ive never heard of them ?

    why is he bolloxed??

its not hard to get off your own arse get to a scrappy and get the brake set up for yourself... which will usually be at a cheaper price because youve done your own leg work.

Not all of us are good with car's... i can fit a set of brake discs and pads, but not calipers or blead brakes, simple as that, im pretty sure the caliper isnt that much bigger that comes with the 266mm gti setup,... its more the disc size that matters.
