all you hardcore strippers, get some pics up of your interior, and where you have saved weight.......
Calling Hardcore Strippers
-
#1
-
#2LOL! Anything that you can get your claws at, pull, hard!
-
#3pics toad? are you a stripper
-
#4You don't need pics...
Here's some areas you can work at:
1) Spare wheel and steel holder
2) Jack and wrench
3) Pugsport exhaust system, without cat. (Weighs about 9kg less than standard!!)
4) Alloy exhaust manifold - Replaces the heavy ass iron one
5) All the insulation in the boot - strip it to the metal.
6) Rear seats
7) All the carpet and sound deadening - This weighs a lot more than you think, as much as 20kg!
8) Interior roofing - Includes: handles, visors and a lot of bits around the sun roof. If you want to go hardcore
then get the sunroof taken out completely, and filled with a carbon sheet. You can save up to 13kg doing that!
9) Replace the front seats with some lightweight buckets. You can get buckets that weigh around 7kg that are not too expensive.
10) Fit harnesses, so you can strip all the current seatbelt kit out
11) Take all 4 doorcards out - they weigh more than you think. The front door cards weigh about 7kg all together.
12) Go plastic with the 4 side windows and tailgate window
13) Carbon bonnet. You can get some that weigh as little as 3kg. This is light compared to the standard which is over 12kg I think.
14) Glass fibre tailgate.
15) Lightweight alloys.
I think that's about it. -
#5i found my angle grinder helped remove some weight
-
#6not looking for tips guys, just wanted to be nosey and have a look at other peoples stripped interiors.
mine:

still got some work to do, perspex, fibreglass, wiring etc.. -
#7wats the point in that . looks horible or is it a track car
-
#9get that seat out
-
#10seat out.. milk bottle tray in its place
lol
thats pretty hardcore! lol -
#12A 1 seater... Billy no mates...!
Just kidding
-
#13You've still got the airbag ecu and wiring harness in there. Rip 'em out!
Will get a pic of mine up tomorrow, not quite as hardcore as yours - I still have a dashboard! -
#14that UBER stripped.lol. i never reliased you could take so much out of a saxo.lol
-
#16Hehe. One seater is still too much for me. I like the idea that I can still have one passenger if need be. But if your car is envolved in racing, then a one seater is perfect of course.
-
#17all in good time matey, as said above still have loads to do yet, rewiring almost everything, relocating battery, and then loads of fibreglass and perspex i reckon.Quote:You've still got the airbag ecu and wiring harness in there. Rip 'em out!
Will get a pic of mine up tomorrow, not quite as hardcore as yours - I still have a dashboard!
the passenger seat come out if i need to caryy a passenger, but i am reluctanct to do so hahaha -
#18Get a full cage in there. Somebody cut the side impact bars out in the doors. Cant remeber who it was though
-
#19Thats looks mint Dave. Changed loads since i last saw it. The single wiper mod is the way forward too. I hear your havin head gasket issues?
-
#21it was billvts that inspired me lol. i had done most of the stripping before i saw his car anyways.Quote:lawrence AKA billsvts on ssc.
and a few others have done that, and on the bonnet and boot frames aswell

no need to remove frames from boot/tailgate as they are getting replaced by Mr Fibreglass. -
#22
-
#23Pics of mine as of today:

Just getting it ready to go to the paintshop for the interior finishing/spraying.
Also have my 10 point SD cage being powder coated this week and a single harness yet to buy! -
#24fook me that is stripped, however you've still get the grip around the handbrake. get rid of that and you could same 10 grams
-
#26You know what mine looks like dave but i thought i would pop some piccies up anyhow.

When my car was first slagged.. Lots gone on since this..
-
#27Got the door cards then craig you happy with them?
-
#28Heres is a few of mine. Also i have noticed a few have removed there air bag ecu's? is it just a case of unplugging and removing?

[/IMG]
-
#29^^^Yes it is a case of unplugging and flogging on ebay for about £50!
You can then remove all the orange wires associated with the airbag/s and seatbelt pretensioners.
Looks mean by the way, love the interior painted. Did you have the bare shell sprayed up? -
#30Cheers for that mate.
As for the interior i just hand canned it. -
#32Cheers mate, just need to get it running right now, chop up the dash some more and sort out the suspension.
-
#33Mines not quite as far as others but I still want to use the car on the road so few bits are staying but more to come out

Rear door cards are out as of the weekend just gone and my single bucket is in, as the missis finds them to uncomfortable and as we use the S mainly at weekends factory seat on passager side stays.

Still debaiting if not remove the headlining or not? and comments on that?
I would like to know more about removing Airbag/pre-tensior wiring but I will start a fresh thread on that. -
#34Cars looks sweet mate.
I am pretty much the same with the headlining, going to take it out this weekend, aswell as the airbag wiring. -
#35Im gona be removing the front carpet at some point too.
After that its pretty my just door cards in the front but I think I might keep them as Im not really going near the track yet if at all. -
#36When removing the front carpets be prepaired for a bit of painting as citreon are pretty tight when it comes to interior paint.
Here's one of mine before i painted it
[/IMG]
-
#37Mine was like that, so out came the smooth white hammerite.

-
#38So am I right in thinking all the orange wires show on the floor pan can be removed once the plug has been unplugged to do with the Airbag and pre-tensoner?
Also James, where did you get them great buckets/trays for the foot wells? -
#39Yeah, it will all come out with the airbag ecu thing which is in the middle at the front of the tunnel under the dash..

-
#40Any reason behind the white hammerite?
-
#41where do you get the carbeon door cards from? i love em.
-
#43im joining the stripped out club!!!
got me some sexy buckets -
#44or tim off sscQuote:
where do you get the carbeon door cards from? i love em. -
#45What a waste of time, looks crap, no big performance gains, if you wanted speed why get a saxo!!!
-
#46lmao each to their own.
besides where does it ask for you worthless opinion? -
#47What a plank. There is big performance gains, especialy when compared to putting on an air filter or exhaust etc. Also saxo's are quick cars not evo/subaru level etc but there arent that many average street cars that will keep up with them. Also when you consider the cost saxos are cheap performance.Quote:
What a waste of time, looks crap, no big performance gains, if you wanted speed why get a saxo!!! -
#48Can't believe this thread was bumped up by someone that quite obviously weighs 18 stone!
Saving weight is the number 1 performance mod for ANY car -
#49Saving weight! Guess your all on diets then lol
Why not take the engine out then push it over a huge cliff be the fastest its ever gone.
What sort of 0-60 times you gettin by losin some weight(Realistic ones please) -
#50^^our point exactly.... The cars are on diets.
-
#51
Saving weight! Guess your all on diets then lol

QUOTE]
Pushing it over a cliff will probably be the fastest its ever gone.. but that could be said for nearly every single car ever made..
Saxo for instance, based on 850kg, X-sectional area of about 2m2, and a Drag co-efficient of 0.34 (Found that on here in search).. 100m high cliff.. would probably reach about 290ish mph before impact... -
#52Surely it wouldn't at it would reach terminal velocity (9.97m/s) long before that?
Thats presuming that its just dropped and not given a helping hand -
#53-9.8ms2 isnt the terminal velocity.. thats the constant for acceleration due to gravity.
-
#5418S_VTS...Complete TWAT!
-
#55
Exactly wot i thought one minute he is say wot a waste of time stripping your car is and the next he asking wot gains you would get? At the end of the day it makes sense why spend all that money on tuning and then lug around excess wait (rear interior etc) as soon as i can get some buckets i am losing the rear interior and keeping front cause i have to drive it every day
-
#56yea but has every1 seen his car?
id rather walk..... -
#57indeed i have frankie looks as if he has crashed into the local ripspped branch
-
#58if you really hink about what hes done is a waste of time.
spend monies on looks, which will really, loss you performance.
spet hes online got an exhaust and filter.
where as stripping it out, you can sell what you take out, and will increase MPG -
#59Covered in superglue and ramraided through halfords ftw;

-
#60Would also like to point out you have two cars with lexus lights. Why is this?
-
#62Simple, your never gonna pull 14 year old slags with a stripped saxo Dave
-
#63dammit.
but i have all this extra room, i could get at least 8 of them in here. -
#64F**king numpty!
-
#66looks like a cross between a saxo, a shopping trolley and some snazzy wraping paper
-
#67lmao......shame he lives in the SW
-
#68Woah easy guys. I actually quite like his car. It doesn't have that "I hang out in mcdonalds every night" look to it. If it wasn't for the lexarse lights, I would say its the best kitted saxo I have ever seen. And as for 18s_VTS, he is a good sport. When people have said bad comments about his car, he doesn't get all lary and says "fair enough" or what ever. Which is a lot to say, compared to come members. Normally I would have left bad rep for being bad sports for certan people in here. But I like you all too much *hugs*
At the end of the day, not everyone likes every form of modifications. Everyone has their own views on what a car should look like. -
#69exactly why he has done it so he can spend his time hanging around the school gates cause the kids think its cool. One day he will grow up
-
#71He expressed his bluntly, im expressing mine bluntly. Its only the internet at the end of the dayQuote:Woah easy guys. I actually quite like his car. #72He made a Saxo look like a Nova.. (From the front)
-
#75vinny...................disowned.
lol jks -
#77lol by the way vinny were you the one at trax who was having probs with ya temp gauge
-
#78Lol. If i see someones car i dont like, i wont post. Or ill say something about what id change.
Saying 'That looks shit, saxos are slow' is bound to wind people up lol. Anyway back to the point before this turns into a SW spam fest -
#80agreed mate his saxo maybe slow due to all the fibreglass and big wheels bu it don't mean other peoples are
-
#82ah bastard m8 hope you getted it sorted pal. Just there was someone on the stand who i was talking to when i putting ma spare on and his car was simalar to yours
-
#83Think mines on the way out too. Theres some kind of HG disease spreading across the SW
-
#84Is that why you didn't say anything about my sexual 13" wheels I had on for a while?Quote:Lol. If i see someones car i dont like, i wont post. Or ill say something about what id change.

Haha, SW spam fest is the way forward. We are like one big happy family (minus me atm, head gasket issues has turned me into an Ogre)
-
#85
-
#88lmao.....my wheel mite fall off.
-
#89glad i live in the midlands then LOL
-
#91i thought my old corsa gsi was "stripped"

how wrong was i . . . . -
#92Lol very wrong buddy
-
#93thats about has stripped as a fully clothed stripper imo
-
#94ok faire enuff seemed stripped at the time
think i was a bit naive
-
#95Stripped = nothing but seats and a stearing wheel, and abit of wood as a gear stick.
i really do wish you wouldnt do threads like this tho!
Seeing you prats strip your cars really pisses me off
because it makes me want to do it so bad
its just not practical is it lol
Also after the yorkshire meet i think i am madly in love with Saxo180 -
#96Whats not practical, with no seats in the back getting in the way, you can fit 4 times the amount of shopping!
Like a mini-van.. -
#97Clearly this isn't about what i thought it was. BOO!
Pics look tho great lads(and girls where applicable)
Love the stripped looked, but i also love my seats
-
#98You have firstly stated the obvious (bar the wooden gear stick??)Quote:Stripped = nothing but seats and a stearing wheel, and abit of wood as a gear stick.

Why do you care if people strip there cars? If its a car used on track then why not?
Mines nowhere near as mental as some of these cars, I dont want to take it
that far but heres my work to date:

-
#99Good work Rush. Still so much to learn...

Are you going to be taking out the carpet and visors and the like?
More importantly, are you going to be taking the sunroof out? The issue with this, is trying to fill the big hole it leaves. But from what I've read, removing the sunroof, can lose you up to 17 kg! And the weight is being removed from a key area, as having less weight up top is a very good thing indeed.
Unfortunately, you cannot just weld something in place of the glass, as it would crimple the entire roof, the metal is too darn thin. I think the only way to do this is to to bond something over the top. But your issue is that it will probably look shyte. I'm not bothered. Can't fit a cage until that sucker is out! -
#100although my car is not built for track it has a lot of weight savin ideas even tho this is not what i'm after, show an shine is my goal, fibreglass is alot lighter than standard panels!
Few fibreglass bits:
Bonnet
Front bumper
Complete front wings
Rear archs
Tailgate
And with the extra trim removed i guess i'm on a diet!
Don't think i'd go to the extremes some have due to having a child and a very pissed off partner lol.
I've been involved in run what ya brung in show an shine cat. but unfortunately lost on final run to a 106 gti. -
#101you can't buy standard fibreglass wings, bumpers or rear arches... ?Quote:although my car is not built for track it has a lot of weight savin ideas even tho this is not what i'm after, show an shine is my goal, fibreglass is alot lighter than standard panels!

Tailgate -
#102Exactly all weight savin mods!
Mods which most would say are pointless ripspeed add-ons which makes it look like a nova
More weight savin:
All arches are stripped
Aluminium red bull can for a washer bottle due to the 18's
Rear wiper and motor -
#103so it has a stick on ricer bumper and wide arches? and how much weight do the 18 inch allows save?
-
#104Anyone know the weight of aftermarket lights compared to standard??
-
#105As i said mines "Show and Shine" not "track" just thought i'd share some ideas.
-
#106yeh k but most people like the standard look on this site
-
#107The 18's weigh very little surprisingly think its because they're racing harts
-
#108oh and i think coilovers weigh less than shocks an springs and defo give ya better handling!
-
#109Haha! Today buddy your the studentQuote:Good work Rush. Still so much to learn...

Well I plan to get a new roof skin completely which solves the issue of filling
a massive hole (check Lewismos thread as the work I want is very similar).
Carpet wont be coming out as it will be much tidier and easier to keep clean
with it in. Remember I want the track look while keeping things looking sexy
at the same time. End of the day we are aiming for differnt outcomes.
As a new smooth roof skin is fitted, there will be no space for the aerial, and visors. But I might get one custom carbon fibre visor made just for the driver
side.
They are all plans I have, but wont happen until next year when I know if I
move out or not. Should be fun though! -
#110Mate I think your just chatting fart now! 18s will still weigh a hell of a lot moreQuote:oh and i think coilovers weigh less than shocks an springs and defo give ya better handling!
than light weigh 15s, lol I still dont feel Coilovers make a lot of difference on
these cars ANNNND they wont be much diffent in weight!
Aftermarkets lights dont weigh any differnt either mate!! LOL I think you just
assuming things now! -
#111Fair enough on the 18s but what about tyres the smaller the profile you go its got to get lighter.
Coilovers obviously make a difference adjustable height and dampening the fact theres less body roll also helps.
As for the weight of aftermarket lights i think you'll find it was a question so i guess your assuming, anyone have any facts? -
#112the only thing i seem to be doin is adding weight
-
#113Tyres - you may loose a bit of weight I suppose, but remember they will be
wider? Probably a larger surface area too?
Im not going to go on about Coil Overs but basically mate, if a company researches
into a fixed ride height for a car, then they can pin point each dynamic detail
so that that combination of spring and shock absorber work to there very best
at that ride height. My point - Id rather spend 500 pounds on well structured
shocks and springs rather than having coil overs that concenrate more on allowing
your car to sit lower. Thats not quality imo. (sh1t said I wasnt going to go on lol)
Yes you did ask a question buddy and I answered:
Ive been through 4 sets of headlights on my Pug 106, and 3 sets of rear lights.Quote:Aftermarkets lights dont weigh any differnt either mate!!!
Trust me the difference in weight would be marginal.
I then went on to say:
Which is targeted at everything you said on this page.Quote:LOL I think you just assuming things now -
#115Wasnt having a go mate, was just saying my fair share. You would actually be
suprised by the quality of adjustable suspension and the weight of 18s over
other setups.
My superlegs weigh in at 4.9kgs mate each wheel. Thats stupid really considering
my 900kg car sits on top of them! -
#116did someone say stripped?
Its not done properly until you get out the anglegrinder*

* may require some roll cage to hold it together -
#117Agree it "may" do eh Kam?Quote:
may require some roll cage to hold it together -
#118Was on about lower profile tyres on any size wheel not jus 18's
That is mental Kam is it still road legal it that condition or purely track only? -
#119In that state? I would say that's about as legal as Michael Jackson in Disney World...
Rush - The skin is a good option, but obviously the most expensive. I've seen Lewis' thread, nice work he's got going on there. I still think you need to take the carpet out, as you have already stripped the rear carpet out! Looks a bit odd with half a carpet mate... -
#120Well the original plan was to get the whole floor re-carpeted. But tbh I dont
have a clue where can do that and how much it would cost.
I absolutely hate it when people take the carpet out the front. Trainers/shoes
collect dirt, dirt when rubbed will scratch. Water from trainers will get into the
scratches..
Hey presto rusting foot wells in over a few months. Excellent
And we all know how much I love rust
NOT!
I know where your coming from Toaduss, but its not the look Im after.
The roof skin wasn't actually as much as you think. Lewis gate me the price of
the skin from Pug and also the cost to paint and fit it (paint both sides). Wasn't
a stupid amount to be fair. -
#121Around 300 notes wasn't it? Chill Rusty, noting gonna rust inside just from taking out the carpet. I was thinking that you might take it out, and then give everything a spray, similar to Lewis. That thought crossed your mind at all?
P.s. That's "Sir Toaduss" to you!
-
#122Bit more than £300. Let me find the PM, saved it as it will come in handy next year..
I love the look of Lewis's interior. But its just too hardcore for myself. I like thingsQuote:£139 inc VAT for skin
£400 for the spraying and fitting
to look neat and tidy as well as being functional. If mine was all resprayed
I would never step food inside of it. Only socks or bare feet
I really like how it is now, got some finishing touches too coming up, retrimmed
S1 door cards on the way
hehe. Will be something a bit different but will
be worth it. Its more cool I steer away from the norm me thinks.
Sir Toaduss, all will be cool dont worry. We salute you -
#123my car is shit up to fook lol
-
#124
-
#125That steering wheel looks like one off an Austin Maestro I used to own lol.
-
#126is the wheel your seat
-
#129LMAO at only socks and bare feet. You pikey.

I'm not entirely sure where you are going with car's interior now. Since you stripped the rear, I assumed the same would happen in the front. Hmm. Not sure. One thing though, the door cards will look really cool. I didn't bother, as I don't see the point. If I'm trying to save weight, why start putting things back in?
I'll be so bitter putting a roll cage in. All that extra weight. Urrgg. lol -
#130S1 Rallye doorcards mate. They arent like normal doorcards. Wait and see, youQuote:LMAO at only socks and bare feet. You pikey.

will like
trust me! I know what you mean, I have removed all the crap I dont need but
the carpet has to stay. If I had another car I would completely gut it. But another
car is definatly out the question now Im afraid.
I agree, will be a right b1tch when a 25kg cage goes in.
-
#131but cornering will make up for it
-
#133

I need to get some up to date photos really as it's been stripped alot more than that since
-
#134what if you fill the tyres up wid helium lol i am getting buckets seats soon and roll cage then i can strip the front out, all the back is stripped
-
#135omg where you get them door cards from they are lush
-
#136boom
-
#137Probably asked you before buddy but what cage is that? SD?

Surprised you haven't removed that roof insulation and the sun roof cover buddy -
#138He already gets Ice on his dash board in the mornings, i doubt he will want to be even more freezing.
-
#139omp......
-
#140bullit, your interior looks pretty tidy! I like the ali floor covering.
But is tha a ghey, heavy stereo and a pair of speakers I spy? -
#141I would whip that airbag and pretensioner device out too.
-
#142if i remove the airbag ecu and wiring, will the dash light come on?
if not, then its coming out.
i also have carbon door cards, tho the front are fitted but the rears aren't and i'm not sure wether to fit them or not. -
#143When you disconnect the airbag and pretensioner device, the LED on the dash goes out!
-
#144Should do a guide if its not an easy task.
-
#146A guide for what?
-
#147When i took my Airbag stuff out, even the ECU, i swear the light was still flashing, so i took the bulb out..
-
#148Oh... The light was on in my car since I fitted the buckets. When I took that device out, the light went out. I wasn't complaining!
