   Rebuild. How much should this cost me on a Vtr box. What should i look out for. I dont want to be ripped off.

   muhaha! basically for a full rebuild you are going to be having new, synchros, bearings etc....
   
   for example mine cost 270 for everything and a mate did it.
   
   so probably looking at 300+ unless you know someone in the trade.
   
   whats up with your vtr box? hole in casing?

   Dont really know whats up with it. It will go into reverse but makes banging noise and doesnt move. It wont go into 5th either.

   might be cheaper just to get another vtr box from a crappy for 100-150 tbh, as yours sounds quite fubared, could need 5th gear replacing.
