Vacuum tube on black top engine

  1. #1
my vacuum tube is not connected to anything anymore due to a new air filter i made.

Any recommendations as what to do with it? Will it affect the car at all?

    what pipe?

the brake servo? or the stepper motor?

stepper motor get a filter for it! brake servo re connect it

brake servo pipe? its the little thin pipe the vacuum hose that comes out the inlet manifold and usualy goes back into the standard air box on the black top engine

when you said home made indcution kit , i had all worrys that you had just gone unplugging everything.

its used for emission control re-circulating the gases from the engine breating system, it would be better to plumb it back in, or if you must put an external filter on it.

I think you've got that mixed up with the crank case breather pipe. Don't quote me, but I thought that vacuum hose served a purpose! I may be wrong though... We need an expert opinion I think. I had a feeling it was a breather to do with the vacuums that are created in the chambers as a result of the pistons moving up and down.

thats a vague response lol vacuum tubes are all used to help the engine run better and keep idle, emissions etc going, for example, the vaccum tube that goes to the servo helps with pedal pressure (hence starting the engine which sucks, creates a vaccum in the servo which is why your pedal is easier when engine is running) the crank case breathers are used to recicrulate the gasses back to the engine for emissions and fuel econ, and some are used to detect the amount of vaccuum in the inlet manifold (for map sensor) others are used to help warm the car up when it opens the warm air chamber on 8vs where heat is taken from the exahust manifold to help the engine warm up.

Leaving any off can play havoc with the idle and map sensor systems and will make the car run worse, if you remove a vaccuum pipe you must either block it off so its not just sucking air from the engine bay or use it for something else.

spot on mate. my uncle says he gets young guys in es work with idle problems all the time and this is the problem.lose hoses etc
