Removing roof lining.

  1. #1
As the title says really, i'm about to remove the lining from my car and was wondering what implications i could cause, like the sunroof handle.
If anyone has any pics of there removed it would be appreciated thanks.

Also what options are out there for changing the glass roof?

I think Ive seen a headline removed but the slide to cover the sunroof was kept. Apart from being very cold in the winter I personally cant see any implications as its there to do nothing apart from cover the roof and add a barrier to keep in warmth.

If your super harcore you could remove all the items related with the sunroof and have a plate welded in to fill the sunroof section.

I am very interest to see some pictures as well as I am really thinking about this one - removing headling

Warmth does'nt really concerm me as i just want to get the weight down as much as possible, and it is'nt my everyday car.

Was thinking of just tiger sealing a polycarb sheet in place of the sunroof ?

thats the best pic i got of mine..

    Just pulls off, lol.

Is there a way of removing all the stuff like the sunroof handle and interior light, and just imobilising the sunroof in position?
  6. #6
Yeah you could i expect but i haven't bothered, will be filling the thing up sometim i expect anyway..

Thats the one, sorry james I forget it was you that had kept the sunroof slide

The warmth bit was just what Citroen put it there for and to make the car look like it hadnt been made in the 1920's hehehehe

I think maybe the metal plate might be better or just leave it in as Im sure even on the track it could be nice on a slightly warmer day to have it open to allow abit of fresh air into the cabin

no have no idea, i should have weighed all the bits as they came out tbh but was just trying to get it all out and out of the way tbh! lol.

Less than 900 kg's though easily.. Probs 840-850kg at a very rough guess, could be lighter than that, could be heavier.. lol.

Mine should'nt be to far behind then.

I'm not having a cage i doubt.. also i'm getting a carbon bonnet and tailgate, just need to find somehwere that does it all for a fair price!
  15. #15

  16. #16
Oh ah..Cool, good site that is.

I have looked for ages for one but no look, was even considering a 106 rear end conversion. But then the money involved was to much, and i prefer performance over looks so F/G it is .

Craig (saxo180) is in the process of having some moulds made for carbon fibre but I dont know at what point he is upto. I pretty sure the more interest in the items the more likely he will say 'lets get some done at the sametime' pm him and see if he would be interested in doing a small batch if and when he's read to do his.

He seems 99.9% sure its gona happen but you never know things sometimes crop up.

I have removed my roof lining and all the sunroof associated items (slider, cover etc) and just refitted the handle to open it with!

Yes I am in talks with a local company about having some moulds made up for carbon bits but will be a few months off before anything happens

I had parts of my interior painted up with the roof lining in as you can see!

Another thing on my "to do" list!
  29. #29
Ye my things Left to do list gets longer by the day.

Did the front trim covers around the windscreen have to come off to remove the head lining as thats the only bit left apart from the area with the sunroof handle and the sun visors, should it then just pull away from the roof ok?
  31. #31
Yeah you need to pull the a pillar covers down a bit to get the roof lining out but they can go back again. As you might be able to see in mine I have black ones from a Pug 106
  32. #32
But once the pillar covers are off does the roof lining simply pull away from the roof

There is a small amount of tack holding the lining on to the roof behind the sunroof. Other than that a firm pull should do the trick

    A firm pull . . . Got ya
