I am looking for a 106 rallye and when i find one i want to put a 106 gti engine in it! How hard is it to do this? I have been told it should go in quite easy! How true is this? Will I need to change any engine mounts etc? Lee

#2its ok to do. theres a few different ways. the wiring which is a cunt.
get on www.106rallye.co.uk theres a sections especially on doing this.
the s1 rallye has a smaller engine bay though! and you will use the rallye mounts. and you will need to grind down the top arm to get it past the cambelt cover -
#3If you find a Series1, personally Id keep the engine block itself the same as the power to weight ratio of the Series1s is great.
But as for Series2's converting to 16v power is a fantastic move

#4Went to buy an S2 with a 16v engine the other day but the guy wouldnt lower the price
Ever thought of buying one with the 16v all ready in....or do you want to do uor on conversion? -
#5I suppose it would be easier yes! But I fancy doing it myself as a little project and then I know how many miles the engine would have done and what sort of condition it is! Probably me just being stupid! lol! How much roughly would it cost me altogether for an S2 rallye and a tidy 106 gti engine?
