Every spectator who came to Hal-Far Raceway for this Drag meet, had the ability to see a couple of very good Greek Drag Racers, competing with our local ones. Mr. Fillippos Papafilippou and Mr. Eythimios Nefrem, decided to come to Malta try out and race on our track for the first time and for fact it wont be the last, since they were very happy with everything.
These two drivers left Malta with a good impression with us Maltese, since they ended up winning and taking Trophies with them to Greece for 1st and 2nd Places in CA6 and Open 4 Classes respectively. One has to mention the Best Elapsed Times of these two Racers, which they achieved here in Malta, during this event. Mr. Fillippos Papafilippou who drove a Slick Pontiac Firebird Door Slammer 509ci, did an Incredible Elapsed Time of 7.4 seconds, with a Terminal Speed of over 180 Mph. He himself, wasn't expecting this kind of Elapsed Time he did over here, since his Best Ever Elapsed Time for this car was an 8.4 seconds. This proves that here in Malta, we got one of the best Tracks in Europe. His Pontiac was performing perfectly to the utmost. One has to mention that he bettered his Launching only, by almost .5 of a second, when he registered a 1.0 second over here to the 1.6 seconds over in Greece. This kind of the Sixty foot Fillippos registered is done by Pro-Stocker cars. He never expected to improve this much over here but Oh Boy, did he ever. He left everyone amazed over here with all his runs. He started with a 7.8 seconds run and was improving by every run he made during this Event. Today, One can say, that this Pontiac Firebird is the fastest Door Slammer car in Malta and now he can say and he's proud to say too, that he holds our National Records for the CA6 and Open4 Classes respectively. One can say all the same things about the other Greek competitor too, Eythimios Nefrem, who was driving a Ford Sierra 454ci. He ended up a runner up to Fillippos Papafilippou and achieved a Personal Best Elapsed Time of 8.6 seconds, which is a second better, than his Personal Best ever time achieved in Greece.
